I believe you have a few things at work here....Boxing has become a one trick pony. The heavyweights have left North america with the only fight people want to see is 2 brothers fighting each other which will never happen.

So in all of boxing, boxers. agents and promoters worldwide there is only 2 words ...manny and floyd and whatever they do. The phillipino community alone is huge, During a Manny fight there is no record of crimes in Manila.much less the whole country as well as other Asian communities. The hispanic community is quite vested in this as well as even the most casual boxing fan.

Combine that with the worst thing that could happen to boxing. Not only a competitor in MMA but a fierce one,,,, that has seen one sport dominate and grow like no other in a sport period. TV networks falling over each other to televise their fights, merchandising, workouts, etc.

Also a very savvy President who is an avid boxing fan and vows to avoid everything that has ruined boxing. No promoters,managers,or agents. A true partnership between the fighter and the UFC. Also they are always striving to offer fans the best product every month. No padding of records...just putting the best against the best.If you lose you're gone Do you really think the UFC would put up with all the stall tactics that have gone on with Mny vs fld? When a sport turns its back on its fans its only a matter of time.

I think you have a great idea since it is Business 101. I guess its fairly easy to hype something when there are only 2 names in the whole sport.Boxing will have a place but it will just be a little bit smaller  after they fight each other or retire.
