Buyer misread my listing, and gave me negative feedback for his mistake

Nov 1, 2009 9:00 AM
The item # is 200396834975. Its an RTF type helicopter. In the body, it says that the "Deal includes" certain items, one of which was NOT a battery charger. I didnt include it, because I do not have the one that came with the item. I have since found it on the other side of the country and it is being mailed to me, it'll be here next week.

I told the buyer that I would send him the charger when I got it, he told me that would not do, and that I have to refund him $20 for the the charger. He claims my title of "ready to fly" means that all the parts are included, and I told him it means, there is no assembly required.

He is now claiming the body of the helicopter is broken. It was not broken when I mailed it. It was mailed to him in the original box, and original packaging that it was mailed to me in (and it wasnt broken when I got it). I know he is fabricating the fact that the body is broken, just to file a claim with paypal, and gave me bad feedback for the whole thing. I am getting so frustrated with this site. I sold him a great item in great condition and a low price, and because of his mistake in not reading the listing... I am the one getting burned.

Your listing should have mentioned that the charger wasn't included and not left it to speculation.

I think a reasonable person would expect the charger to be included as part of the 'ready to fly' condition of the item.

Send them the charger ASAP.

Sorry, I meant in his emails hes threatening to give me a negative feedback. I just checked and he hasnt yet. I dont get why he would though. I know he's allowed to give any feedback he wants, but I didnt do anything wrong. I am even trying to make him happy by sending the charger for free, even though it wasnt part of the deal. He doesnt want to wait for it, and is demanding a refund.

I don't see the neg either but I could see why the buyer was upset

The battery charger is an integral part of the toy - and without it the thing is useless

You should have mentioned it wasn't there ...

I came to being an

Oh well, maybe next month ...

And thats why I want to fix the situation by sending him the charger. I feel bad that I didnt say not included. I live in PA and it's being mailed by a friend from CA. He doesnt want to wait a week for it though, he's demanding a cash refund.

Why should they send them something that was not included in the listing? The buyer obviously misread the part that says "battery pack with charge protection circuitry" and thought it was a battery charger. That's not the seller's fault. It's the buyer's fault who needs to take a course in reading comprehension 101.

If he files through paypal he will have to return the item to get his refund. If he files put in the dispute that the charger is on the way and will be sent to him as soon as you receive it.

June, sorry this happened to you. You buyer sounds angry now, so I would tell him to return the item and refund him in full. Then you can resell with the charger when you receive it.

I think you are being more than generous in sending them something that was not included in the listing. I wouldn't.

Now that the buyer says that's not good enough, I'm reasonably sure they are just after a partial refund they do not deserve. They evidently don't need the charger and that indicates they knew it didn't come with the item..

I agree, but whatca wanna bet that won't be good enough either.

The only thing that may appease this buyer is their free cash back.

That and a winning lottery ticket plus free hotel and airfare to Hawaii.

OP I'm sorry this happened to you. I see both sides of it. I do not see though why the Buyer can't wait a week to get the charger. That tells me either he/she is a remorseful buyer, or just so unreasonable he/she isn't worth dealing with. Best of luck in this mess!

1) I don't blame the buyer for being upset. I wouldn't think I should need to buy anything else to play with a toy I purchased.

2) I don't blame the seller, because those toys just come that way.

I sold some Air Hogs things a couple of years ago. Unless you read closely on the box, you wouldn't have had a clue that the battery pak and charger was NOT included. It was a proprietary thing and was sold SEPARATELY - and cost another $36 on top of the $100 price for the plane!

I kept wondering how many kids were disappointed on Christmas morning because they couldn't do a single thing with their main toy because Grandma didn't see the fine print about needing to buy the battery and charger separately.

My guess is that they want to make more by selling them separately, and also that people who tend to have those sorts of toys may have more than one, and might not appreciate having to buy a charger with every single plane purchase they made, esp. if the price of the charger significantly added to the price of the plane itself.
