If you haven't seen the new Sell Your Item form yet, there are a few ways you can help us:
- If you would like a tutorial on the new form, please visit

- Try out the new SYI at:

There’s also another topic I want to address. As we've been talking to various sellers, we've heard about trouble some folks have had writing your own HTML in your item descriptions. I'd like to take a moment to provide some additional information. The new selling form does allow you to write your own HTML for your item descriptions. To do so, click on the "HTML" tab in the description area, and you can write (or copy and paste) your HTML description there.
If you do this, however, there are some common error cases that you should be aware of:
- There are some HTML tags that are meant to only be used once on any given page. These include HTML, BODY, HEAD, and TITLE. Often when you use a third party program to create your HTML, these tags will be included automatically. However, the View Item page already contains these tags (eBay uses them for the main layout of the page.) If you are using a tool to create your HTML, please be sure to remove these all of these tags completely before pasting the HTML into your description.
- Similar to my first point, some sellers have attempted to use the BODY tag to set a background color for the page. You can accomplish the same thing by putting your description into a TABLE and setting the color that way - this will avoid your use of the inappropriate BODY tag in the description section.
- Some sellers also try to copy a description written in Microsoft Word and paste it into the description area. Microsoft inserts “MSO” tags into the which won’t be translated correctly by our selling forms. You can copy and paste from Microsoft Word, but to do so we recommend that you save the document as plain text first (.txt) and then copy and paste.

Link In the future, we'll look into ways to make the description editor a bit more forgiving in case you mistakenly include some of these tags, but for I wanted you to be aware of these common cases.
