More Feedback on the new Sell-Your-Item form (SYI)
Jul 28, 2006 02:28 PM

Hello everyone,

This is Miyuki. I'm an eBay Product Manager for the Sell Your Item form (SYI), and also an active seller on eBay. I'm starting this thread so we can provide updates (and get feedback from you) on the new Sell Your Item form that we've been working on.

First of all, I would like to announce a new release of SYI, which includes a lot of bug fixes and feature changes driven by the feedback we've heard from you on the previous SYI 3.0 discussion thread David Wygant started.

Highlights of this release:
  • Fixed the issue where error message would say "Please provide the correct information in the highlighted fields" but no fields would be highlighted on the Describe Your Item page.
  • Fixed the issue where your HTML description was lost after using the "Customize this Form" function.
  • A separate tab for editing your own HTML has been added to the description editor
  • Copy and Paste should work now in the description editor
  • Adding the ability for Picture Manager subscribers to insert pictures from the Description field.
  • Inserts are back in the description editor with bubble help.
  • Small performance improvements were made, but more to come.
We are making continuous effort to improve usability and performance of the new form. Please look forward to more improvements in a month or so, which include:
  • Continued improvements to page loading speed.
  • Links for Re-List, Sell Similar, and My eBay on the Listing Success page.
  • Tips for filling out Title, Item Specifics, and Description in your selling category.
  • Easier Gallery picture selection.

Secondly, I'd like to address a couple of common problems we have seen from the community.

Looking for:
  • Help? Please click on the icon on the top right corner of the Create Your Listing page, which will open up a help pane. You can also click on the bubble icon next to each field prompt, e.g. Title, to find specific help for that feature.
  • Options on your form, such as Scheduled Listing, International Shipping, or Return Policy? Please click on the Customize Form icon on the top right corner of the Create Your Listing page. You can also click any of the bubble icons next to each field prompt, and find the Customize Form link in the bubble help content. The idea is to customize your own selling form, so you can see just the options you need.

Lastly, your opinions are very important to us! Although I may not be able to answer your questions or concerns directly, I will be checking the board periodically to give your feedback to my team. Please be patient with us, and be assured that our team is listening and dedicated to make every effort in improving your selling experience on eBay.

How you can help us:
  • Try out the new http://cgi5.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SellHub3>SYI Form
  • If you've tried the new SYI, please take the survey
  • Please be specific about the problem you are encountering and provide us your system, browser and item number information. A detailed step by step scenario description will really help us to get your problem fixed faster. If you encounter a problem, please feel free to send me a message with all of the information to my email address at miyuki@ebay.com.
  • Let us also know about the things you like about the new form so we can keep them in mind for future projects!

I look forward to hearing from all of you!

Sincerely, Miyuki

p.s. For less experienced sellers, we've recently created an education tutorial for using the new selling form, which you can find in the selling modules on www.ebayuniversity.com .

I actually have the same problem when I am using my att yahoo browser, the picture will not upload. I have to use firefox browser. I don't know why it works in one but not the other. I do believe ebay needs to fix this. It should work in every browser. To the person who posted before me try using the firefox browser temporarily. Hopefully ebay will fix it so it work on every browser soon.

Bottom line to me--I listed 2 BIN's today-cheaper one showed in searches within an hour, expensive, time sensitive one still is missing, live chat says could take 6-8 hours to show up--for a 24 hour auction! All the new forms in the world aren't going to help timing...
that's my rant...:_|

How about fixing the same for the Edit Your Listing page? :)

Thank you!

I just want to ask eBay to rid of the Sponsor's Link from my all listings in my eBay store. It stick to the top part of my listing. When I complained, they rid of but again it sticks like roaches when I accessed to my item a week later.

If eBay do so, they should notify when I list as "If you list item, the sponsor's link might stick to your listing". Should clearly state the policy. period.

I used to use (and pay for) a third party photo hosting and template site, where they had all the changes ebay made, coordinated into their program. That way I never had to worry about it. I would still check the listing the minute it went up to see that all my preferences were correct or I would go directly to the listing in ebay and correct it via editing and re-submitting it. Make sure you check every listing you put up, since ebay has, on occasion messed up preferences for people's selling, such as the countries you sell to.

I would also suggest you not answer any survey questions linked into ebay, or you will get roped into a test group that you will have a hard time opting out of, unless they force you into a test without an opt-out. That happened in July 2008 after doing some of those stupid surveys about MY EBAY BETA. I got stuck for 5 weeks and could not do anything, buying, selling, or otherwise.

Since then I have not tried anything new on ebay, because of the changes in feedback, I have no interest in selling on a site where the buyers are enabled to steal from the sellers.

Thank you o.c.c.collectibles.
I didn't know that eBay use the member who responded to their survey as a test group.

Actually, I was told by eBay customer support that "This is test so you can opt out." However, after I opted out, the same Beta page showed up again and again 2-3 days later.

I learned now. I will never response to their survey anymore.

There IS NO "opt out" button. I didn't "opt in" in the first place.

Why FIX things that aren't broke?

This is a 6 year old post.  The March 2012 shift to the limited form is in effect.  I called to get support after reading newer post about opting out and they took care of me.  They invite feedback from sellers!
