All of our items are shipped within 24 Hrs of receiving payment. Heavier Media Shipments which can only be mailed "Media Mail" or "Priority Mail". 99% of the time the buyer chooses the slower "Media Mail" rate, and then leaves lower ratings under shipment time, even though in most cases, the item was shipped the same day!

I am going to loose my TRS statis because of the ridculous new rules. I can't do 1 day shipping because each order is printed per order. I am going to ignore all the rules and stop shipping through e-bay at all and do what I want. My customers are 40-60% return buyers so - screw e-bay.I am also starting to sell through my own website and take my loyal customers with me.

We have just lost our top rated seller rating after only 2 negative feedbacks in 12 months.
What protection is eBay managment giving to hard working small buisness that sell on eBay.....do we have a say?
We offer free postage and send most items the day they are purchsaed!
Is this fair?

I also loss my top rated seller this month after getting four 1s or 2s in shipping and handling charges. All of my items are listed with free shipping and now I'm hoping that I can get it back next month. They need to bump the number of low ratings up to 10 counts for those that have great feedback. By the way does any one know how many items I would have to sell to get my shipping and handling charges percentage from a 1.96% to 0.50%.

I lost my Top Rated Seller Status a few days ago. And I do understand that like any business there are ups and downs. I have felt the same way about buyers having so much control over your seller staus that it can cause one to feel angst.
There is less feeling of control on how one is to be perceived. You think you are doing everything right, and then that dreaded email hits your mail box, item not as described, Ouch! what could be wrong, you ask yourself. Didn't I describe everything to a T and w/ detail photos? This aspect of selling on ebay, and not face-to-face, that can get one down from time to time.
If I sell an item SOLD-AS-IS and the buyer leaves low rating on item description because they bought it for a replacement part that turned out to not be what they wanted, and they have never bought on ebay before, then why should that take so much away from the hundreds of other sales that gave high description ratings. Seems like regardless of the number of transactions you make that just 3 can knock down all your HARD WORK! Buyers also usually don't realize that if you offer free shipping then that means the shipping price is included. So they assume that the item is of higher quality because of listing price, even though the detailed description states sold as is. I know that I have to keep working at it and make adjustments where I can and set guidelines for myself, so to keep cost low. There are ways of making it work to your advantage, I'm just still trying too figure it out. Like, how do I get my Top rated seller back now? Do I have to wait a month or what exactly.

Ebay, please remove the seller rating option in regards to shipping charges. It is unfair that I can be held responsible for shipping charges that are created by your shipping calculator and the USPS. I follow the rules, and work hard to ensure 100% positive feedback. It stinks that a buyer can hold me accountable for your rates. Lets get something done about this horrible injustice....Thanks

There is only one reason Ebay has made all of the changes to sellers and shipping and that is so everyone will lose their discount, make Wall Street happy, the stock go up and the Board Members make millions off of the back of the sellers. In the circle of life, what goes around comes around. Give it time, they will get their due reward. All sellers are looking for other avenues, and a lot will quit eBay, but the needle neck pencil pushers cannot think that far ahead.

I also lost my TRS status. I complied with all of eBay's requirements - one day handling, 14 day return policy, print all my postage through PayPal with tracking etc. The reason for the loss of TRS status was due to eBay's inability to recognize that a combined shipping tracking number should apply to all of the transactions in that combined shipping. I have spent hours over the last month trying to reach someone to correct this. I am totally stressed out and put myself on vacation last month while I decide if I want to continue selling on eBay. Maybe if all concerned sellers went on vacation the same day, we could get eBay's attention.

I also had my rating drop this month because of 2 bad ratrings checking that my shipping charges were 2 high. I do not try to make money on shipping just try & not lose money. I have shipping charges posted on each of my over 1000 items. This is so unfair. Jane

I have approached this issue very differently. I ship everything for free, everything no matter the weight, destination, etc. The reason is, most of what I sell is imported from all over the globe. In every listing I do I state that the shipping times will be affected because they are imported items and must pass thru Customs. Since I've done this, my sales are the same, and I get no negative feedback about shipping times or charges. I take advantage of the templates of course. My DSR's are all great. It's a very tough game adding the shipping to the prices of course, but that's also all about what you are selling too. I think some good luck helps too.

My experience like all of yours has been frustrating. E-bay is a company that seems to opperate with the worlds worst customer service, They give you false information and actually lie to you without regard. Any other legimitate business would never survive with those kind of business practices. I'm convienced that the evil machine cannot be changed so I guess all that can be done is to promote action that negatively impacts e-bay just like they have done for all the honest sellers out there.
To grow with the curent seller base that they still have, all they would have to do is to be fair with the rules and listen to the complaints of the sellers and take positive action. Give someone in customer service the ability to make a decision other than "please let me put you on hold while I ask my supervisor brain" I cannot believe that they have the success they have. They may think that they are the ony game in town and do not have to think about the mechanics of the business model but I think they are on the verge of colaspe. That is why I'm selling the stock short till they explode.
Even though they say that they record all of my phnoe calls I've never found any way to get their attention.

I'm not sure how to get their attention. but if there is some kind of action I'm in. Why do they get to be the ones to poke the sellers in the cage? Without buyers they don't make any money, without sellers they can't even dream about it.

Well,
We also lost out TSR, but it was due to the problem described above, e-bay not being able to recognize the combined shipping tracking numbers. But no matter, we have decided to to pursue the issue and just went back to focusing on the customers and business model.
We will not be looking to achieve the TSR status anymore as it just puts too much stress, on a already stressful business. Also after doing a lot of research, our listing where not being pulled to the top, as they say they were, so honestly in the end there is little reason to try and get the TSR rating, as we feel that the discount you receive is minimal at best for the amount of stress and demands that are put on a company to maintain it.

Ebay's system dosn't care about sellers and they are doing all to raise fees even if it is by taking our powerseller status away,
Very hard site to enjoy, it is almost scary to try to make a living.

I was a top rated seller for years before they implemented these new performance standard criteria -
Tracking summary
Low detailed seller ratings
Cases
Other criteria
If you miss one of them while outperforming everything else you get dinged. It's like they try to tease you and tell you why you can't achieve this unattainable goal of being a top seller to get the 20% discount.
I have almost perfect scores on all 3 of the 4 criteria except for "Tracking uploaded within stated handling time", which was hurt by the fact that I sold a small repair patch kit that cost $1.99. I didn't ship with a tracking number because that would be an extra cost. I just used regular stamps. I didn't realize that it was hurting my score until I downloaded the seller performance report. I had sold so many of these that my tracking upload time rating dropped below 80%.
Losing the top rated rating is bad enough but losing the 20% discount because of this was a total let down. That means $200+ savings per month. I contacted eBay and they told me to create another account to sell that item so it doesn't hurt my discount.
Needless to say I told the ebay operator to screw it. I stopped selling the repair patch kit and am waiting for my score to go back up to 90%, which could take 3 months.
You can see where eBay can find areas of improvements, but I am being nice when I say that. I am angry that they did this to avoid paying the discount and pad their profits at the expense of the hardworking sellers that made them successful.
Luckily, I don't rely on eBay for my main revenues, but if they keep doing these things to hurt sellers, they will lose me. There are more and more seller marketplaces out there for me to sell online than before.

@simplyglobo I think it might be 2 months before you are reinstated, the next evaluation should be for Sept-Nov so all those sales in sept will drag you down and then the following one will be for Oct-Dec and It seems to me that yoiu would be reinstated on that evaluation (DEC) but no one at e-bay can give you a straight answer to that.
My strategy would be to not sell much during the time that you won't be getting the discount and resume after that. If you have an item that you sell to repeat customers continue with that one to keep that customer base but do everything you can to reduce your FVF's to e-bay. E-bay could care less about sellers and their customer service is a joke. You will waste a lot of time talking to chuckelheads who have absolutely no authority to help you. Use the down time to expand other venues available to you to sell your goods, the more disappointed sellers e-bay creates by their bad policy's the more other venues open up.
My TRS status has been reinstated but I'm sure it's only a mater of time that they interpret the rules in their favor and take it away again.

I am just about ready to quit selling after ten years and an average of 34000 sales a year. This top rated seller demotion has decreased our sales by 60 percent. seems like ebay wants only top sellers and does not show our ware! I am done with this company!

Hello,
We were a top rated seller as well until this month. We had 3 listings that some how went into auction instead of the fixed price. Then at the beginning of every month we have a new price tape, so prices change and usually go up...some do go down too. My concern is that we didn't post any auctions, so how did they get posted as auctions. The the parts sold and in no way can I sell a part for $51.99 when my cost is over $100. This like I said happened 3 times this month and we got negative feedback on all three even though we sent messages explaining to the customer. How can we get these taken off so we can become a top rated seller agan and get our discount back? Not to mention how did the three items get on auction? This does not seem right when we never posted anything as an "AUCTION"!!!

i have suggested all sellers strike for one wek but forget anyone banding together...this is why ebay gets away with what they do. everyone complains but no one has the guts to really do anything about it. just think of the money ebay would lose if we banded together and stopped selling for a weekby putting our store on vacation!

I've quit worrying about the Top Rated Seller thing...I've had it twice and both times ebay "raised the bar" for the qualifications. Have you noticed there is now a "Top Rated Plus"? Not having it hasn't affected my sales.
I ship free with an economy shipping and I get low ratings for shipping time, even though it is clearly described in big red letters in all my listings.
On the subject of negative feedback, I did recently manage to have a negative removed. I had received no contact from the buyer and ebay removed the feedback.

Ebay does not care! If they can take you off the "Top Rated Seller" list they can squeeze your and your sales for more money. I have been a seller for 15 years and just lost my TSR because I had 3 of 451 sales say "Item as Described" which indeed is an opinion.
I called fleebay and they told me they won't tell me which item was at issue so I could remove or correct any description that may be confusing or causing my low rating.

I just raised every single item price on auction last night. I am also going to the Ponderosa to begin listing there to get a following. I will put flyers in every ebay package telling my ebay customers to look for my items at the Ponderosa where they will find better prices due to lower costs and fees.

The TSR ratings are not FAIR. I see some high volume sellers with 50 or 100 negatives. And these same sellers have an overall lower feedback rating than I do and my feedback is 99.8 with my lowest DSR rating is a 4.9 out of 5. 1 negative in 12 months.
AND IM NOT WORTHY...

PROBLEM IS DRS'S ARE INDEED LARGELY OPINION NOT FACT. AND INDEED THE SYSTEM CAN BE MANIPULATED BY BUYERS OR COMPETITIVE SELLERS ACTING AS BUYERS.

Indeed fleecebay offers seller no protection. I have 1 negative in 12 months. All 4.9 or higher DSR ratings. But I got 3 "Item as Described" marks for a whopping point .67 percent DSR and I just lost my TRS after just getting the certificate in the mail that I had reached it yesterday.

This change that cost me 20% discount will cost me maybe $300 over the next 3 months.
So I'm going to spend my time listing at the Ponderosa with Little Joe who can help me make up the losses and to grow my business elsewhere.

I too also have my own website which is going to be getting a facelift. I am also making a colorful flyer for every package I ship from ebay that will tell my buyers to look for me at the other auction site for better prices on other items.

The other site hasn't screwed me. They charge me much less and have less intrusion into my business. EPLAY is no longer 'JUST A VENUE" they are the ugly partner in my business that I have to deal with.

Yes, I agree. I too offer free shipping. 1 Day service. Answer all emails within 24 hours or less. I have 99.8 positive feedback with 1 negative in 12 months. However, I just lost my TRS status for "Item as Described" and fleebay wont even help me to know which item it was.
So how am I supposed to fix it, assuming it was a problem to begin with. The description of an item is often opinion or a buyer oversight in reading the descriptions.

I've begun moving my auctions after 15 years on fleecebay to another site that wants my business. endbay has chased away so many excellent sellers over just this type of issue. Read the posts and see for yourself.

Yes, I agree the stress of selling on ebay is quickly becoming a factor in continuing to do business on ebay. A one day vacation from ebay wont work. It needs to be a permanant move to another venue.

Continues policy changes and rules that are unfair are the reason many are leaving. And yes I agree ebay bean counters have found a way to get the best top sellers off the discount rolls and paying more.
