Powerseller Discount now pretty much unattainable. Thanks EBAY.

I just got my most recent seller update.  It states that Top Rated sellers will no longer be eligible for the 20% fee discount unless we offer 1 day handling, AND a full refund option for returns!  How in the world are we expected to offer 24 hour shipping when we are already offering FREE SHIPPING!  I try to ship items in 24 hours, but that's when I am caught up, or ahead.  Imagine waking up Monday morning to 2 days worth of sales over the weekend, and I am expected to ship them all by the end of the day at 5PM, plus answer all customer questions from the weekend, PLUS record Monday's sales that occur while I am doing all of this.  Not shipping an entire weekend's worth of work in one day means we are subject to an entire weekend of sales worth of negative feedback due to unfulfilled 24 hour promises.  That's asking way too much.  There goes my Powerseller Discount.  Customers are already expecting fast shipping, and 24 hour shipping gives them all the power in the world to hold sellers to unreasonable expectations, and leave feedback for not doing it.  It doesn't matter if we automatically get a "5" from Ebay on shipping time.  If the customer doesn't get it in 2-3 days, they will be leaving OVERALL negative feedback.  I would rather lose the discount and keep 2-3 day handling than tell everyone everything is going out in 24 hours.  If I do ship in 24 hours, which is the case more than 50% of the time, they get a pleasant surprise.  I'll be darned if I am going to guarantee that AND free shipping. You don't get 24 hour handling guaranteed, AND FREE SHIPPING.  If they are in that kind of a hurry, they need Priority upgraded shipping.   All this does is give buyers reasons to poke holes in our hard work. I have been on here 11 years, and keep my customers happy, and always try to do them right.  I don't need to make ridiculous promises to keep them buying.

Also, the policy states no powerseller discount unless we offer a return for a full refund for any reason.  I have a return policy that allows a return for a replacement or refund only if the item is damaged or defective.  Why would I offer refunds for no reason?  The buyer can price match at Walmart, and find it cheaper when it's on sale, and return it, and I am out all of my time plus the sale revenue.  I don't believe items should be returnable unless something is actually wrong with them, especially since many of us on here offer things you cannot buy at walmart that are out of print, or very rare, or very expensive to ship, and we don't WANT people to be able to return them for any reason.  Buyers will price match, and return items left and right, and Ebay will lose more revenue than they gain customers.  This is a ridiculous expectation, and I do not think shops/boutiques on here should be required to offer refunds, or get their Top Rated Discount removed.    It's nice to get a hundred or two back on fees, but if buyers return $1000 worth of merchandise, then we are cash broke, and cannot pay our bills.  Anyone else have thoughts on this terrible policy mistake??

I have been with ebay since 1999... I am getting sick of ALL of the CHANGES constantly.  They are destroying my business and I am sick of it.  I have 100% feedback and haven't been a top rated seller now for 5 months.  I have been for 12 1/2 years but now because of shipping charges, which I do not overcharge and they know it, I am not a top rated seller.  I will NOT give anyone a 14 or 30 day return policy.  I sell expensive jeans and I know these people would wear them and return them and possibly even return fakes, which I had that done one time.  It's an absolute shame that we invest all of this money and time into OUR business and they have the right to take control of it.  I am thinking of quitting as I am sick of giving this conglomorate any more money.

Yep, it looks like our friends at eBay have tried to make the "Buyers Experience" so good, that they'll gladly jam any policies they like down the throats of hard working sellers who already take good care of their customers.

We sell adut DVDs.  Yeah, sorry, that's what we sell.  All original productions, rather expensive to produce - and expensive.  With a 14 day return policy, do you really think that a very real percentage of our customers aren't going to watch the DVD a few times, and then pop it back in the mail "Netflix-style" and grab their refund and move on??

I don't mind the 1 day handling as much.  That's kind of do-able, but a return policy will likely be out of the question.  And if we DON"'T adhere to this policy, not only do we lose our 20% discount, but we don't appear high up in search results.

If you think these policies aren't being JAMMED DOWN YOUR THROAT - Wake Up!

eBay, Take Note!  We Are NOT Walmart!!  Not everything can be about the "Buyers Experience"!  Our customers LOVE our product.  And now, thanks to your policy changes taking place in June, it will be nearly Impossible now to attract new Quality customers who will not return our product once they're done watching it!

eBay sellers take note:  It seems like it will be just a matter of time before it will be a requirement that you accept these policies or you will not be able to sell anything on eBay.

The days are over when you could trade equally between buyer and seller in relative peace and harmony.  Folks who are in charge of eBay now consider that era to be like the Lawless Wild West days!

Well, there's a new sheriff in town, and he's only looking out for the buyers.  Sellers are on their own!
