Re-Listing fees

Re-Listing fees
Mar 10, 2012 07:06 PM

Hello all,

Okay, after reading a lot of these great posts I have even more questions....the more I read and learn the more I need to read and learn....

Anyway, I have a question for all your knowledgable folks:

I used the Automation Rules to re-list my unsold items. Cool, I knew there had to be a way to do that without re-doing each one individually. Now - if my item remains unsold for say....3 or 4 re-lists and it finaly sells....do I then have to pay for each time it was re-listed? ie...there is the original listing fee, plus 4 re-list fees = a possible 5x fees? That might end up costing more than the item is worth.....

Thanks!

Yes, you pay for each relist. The fees do mount up.

If you have an auction, there may be a insertion fee credit if you relist and it sells (it must sell).  So you can recoup some fees. This does not apply to Fixed Price listings.

Thank you poco.......

Another question - to which part of your answer does the "does not apply to Fixed Price Listings" apply? To the frist sentence or second sentence?

Thanks!

How about if I re-list several times (lets use 4 times) and there is no action and/or interest at all on the item and I do not re-list.....which fees will i have to pay? The initial listing + 4 re-lists? Or just the intial listing fees or ???

Help!

Thanks,

You always pat to list.  Except if you have an eBay seller promotion like free auctions for stores for 3 weeks.

I you list a FP listing once, then relist 4 times, you pay for all 5.

If you have an auction (normal, not this current special), you always pay for the insertion fees.  However, if the listing is relisted and it sells, you will get an insertion fee credit.

Now only the second auction relist qualifies for a relist credit. So if you list the same auction 4 times, the 2 nd and 4 th relist may qualify for a insertion fee credit.

So I would usually relist an auction if it did not sell the first time. Just gambling that if it sold on the second try, I would get the insertion fee credit.  Now you can take your time and relist it in 4 weeks (max is 8 weeks - 60 days ???) if you want to try later. It does not have to be immediately.

If you change an auction significantly on the relist, it may no longer qualify for the insertion fee credit. This is to prevent a seller redoing the relist for a completely different item and cheating to save insertion fees.

For fixed price items you pay each time it lists.  You will be charged on your statment each month for the current list/relist.  I consider this a non issue since we're talking $0.60 (Premium Store) to about $2.40 a year assuming you don't sell in a years time.

Thanks poco....

I appreciate all the responses and answers. I am still somewhat confused about something......my listings always expire in 10 days......paying re-listing fees (maybe not the 'insertion' fee but the other fees) every 10 days add up to a whole lot more than the $2.40 in a year that the other person mentioned  in their response. Obviously something is much different.....we can't be talking about the same thing? But it's good to know I can choose to not re-list for a certain amount of time and not loose the info in the listing. I lowered my prices on my items....as it is I'll prbably loose $$ on every one when factoring in all the fees and re-list fees......oh well........

Thanks again for your answers, folks!

Hi strings....

I mentioned your response in my response to poco......about the $2.40 in a year.  Man, I am really wondering how a seller can get away with only that amount for listing an item repeatedly for that long.........I've seen some of the really cool Western Bowie knives listed since last fall........I wonder how much they pay for each listing? Sure, I have sold several items. made som edecent money, but now when a buyer messages me about shipping costs and I message them back with several options (Canada Post, UPS, FedEx, DHL etc...) I don't see a follow-up bid, I don't get another message from them.....do they even get my messages? I've had buyers win a bid, and I wait for over a week to get paid, even after sending polite messages......

It's all good though, I'm learning while enjoying this whole experience, and when I see the action fade too much I'll hold off my listings for a while.

Thanks for your time and good info!

With my store subscription it costs me $0.60 a year to keep an item listed "Buy It now Or Best Offer".

I don't list anything auction style unless they run the free listing specials. I pay enough in Final Value Fees without paying to list things that do not sell.
