Sellers Not Shipping in 1 Day to Be Stripped Of Their Powerseller Badges
Jul 24, 2012 05:40 PM

During the last rounds of ebay changes ebay lets us know that those of us who could not deliver 1 day shipping would be stripped of our sellers discount, regardless of how well we preform, how satisfied our customers are, or how high buyers rate us.

Now they intend to strip us of our powerseller badges. That right! Even if customers are thrilled with your service, buyers will not know you are a powerseller. You will get NO PUBLIC RECOGNITION for all the hard work and effort you put into customer service. The kind of hard work that keeps ebay buyers coming back and keeps ebay thriving. We’re doing our part for ebay, thanks for doing your part Ebay!

Its not as if most of us are just stubbornly holding out on the 1 day shipping policy because we’re lazy. Its because we cant afford it. Do you hear that Ebay. We cant afford to hire enough staff to send shipments out that fast because:

1)Ebay allows the Chinese to post on the US board. To compete our prices have to be extremely low. Theres not enough profit left to pay for1 day processing.

2) Ebay fee’s keep going up. Between ebay and paypal the fees are already 10%.

3)We carry small affordable items. That mean high volume with low profit. This policy favors small sellers and sellers who sell more expensive (fewier) items.

Starting May 1—get up to 2,500 FREE listings* every month with an eBay Stores subscription

eBay has reduced the upfront cost to sell for Store sellers! With eBay’s new everyday rate plans, you get from up to 150 to 2,500 FREE listings* per month—no insertion fees, auction-style or fixed price—with an eBay Stores subscription. You pay a final value fee only when you sell! Plus, the final value fees for Stores have been streamlined to just 5 competitive category-based rates as low as 4%—and never more than 9%—regardless of how you sell.

Learn more about everything eBay Stores have to offer, then use the Fee Illustrator to find the best Store option for you! Watch this tutorial to learn how.

*Pay no insertion fees for your allotted free listings per calendar month. Optional fees, including advanced listing upgrades and supplemental service fees, still apply. Pay final value fees only when you sell. Motors Vehicles, Real Estate, Heavy Equipment, Concession Trailers & Carts, Imaging & Aesthetics Equipment and Commercial Printing Presses are excluded. 12 free pictures does not apply to Motors Vehicles listings. eBay, you have continuously made favorable changes for the buyer, not the seller. WE SUPPORT YOU, we pay your salaries. The buyer is not always right, buyers are abusing your system, and we the dmall guys have to pay big # for it.

Not to mention those of us who sell products which are customized for each customer.  I have over 300 products listed which are custom made to the buyers specifications.  The product has to be manufactured AFTER the customer places their order which makes 1 day shipping impossible.  By selling such products Ebay now places in jeapordy my Top Rated status and penalizes me for selling my products.  Shame on you Ebay.

I have had it with the 1 Day shipping!!! I am spending most of my time trying to ship out in 1 day that I am not having time to list items. My sales and listings are down, I have bent over backwards to try to ship out in 1 day, and now they take away the 20% discount because buyer want you to wait to ship or bidding on more than 1 item you wait to ship together and I get this?? I told eBay they can keep their 20% discount, I will go back to shipping 2 times a week and 5 day return policy. If a buyer cant tell within a few days the item is not as decribed there is something wrong. I live in a rual area and do not have postal service close by and going to the post office every day is just not an option anymore, and to have FedEx come by every day cost me to much. Buyer just look at sellers feedback before buying anyway, not is you are a top rated seller.

I have been with Ebay since almost day one and now I have lost my powerseller badge. I simply cannot ship in one day. I take care of my ill father on Wednesdays. This is total BS. It is not like buyers even care. They always choose the slower shipping methods to save money on shipping. At least now, I don't have to worry about feedback as much because I have already lost my discount!  Pretty soon, we will have to ship everything for free too, no doubt!

If the President of Ebay is not careful, he/she will wind up like JC Penny Co. President.  He went in and made a lot of changes, business dropped drastically, and now he is looking for a job.  My main concern is satisfying the customer, and doing a good job, but that is not good enough, They cannot sell if they have no sellers.  Amazon says Ebay sellers are coming to them in groves.  I am actively looking for other avenues to sell my products and if they work out, I will be doing a lot less on Ebay. But guess that willmake them happy.  Would be interested in knowing how many traders are shorting this stock for their next quarter.

Of course these are the same folks who have never had a death in the family. They have never gotten sick ( or a member of their families's). Had a natural disaster hit. Have their car break down or their computer crash.  I wish I lived such a charmed life.

I was a TRS, currently a Silver Powerseller. I have lost my 20% by choice for i hand write my labels and do not receive the free delevery conformation. My choice, much less of a carbon foot print. A pen last several months compaired to $50 for printer ink/refill. It appears now i will lose my Powerseller badge according the post, that is fine!

the 20% lost, i save on printer ink, paper, and my personal freedom to work when it suits me. One of the main reasons i started selling on Ebay. The freedom it allowed me.

I decided my personal freedom/time is more important than jumping through the ever changing Ebay hoops, just not worth it. I am still 100% feedback and still offer great service. I rely on my repeat buyers.

All I read here is true for me too.  Though I am easily able to ship in one day, easy because little is selling!  I'm not even getting any views from their millions of buyers!   Ebay is pushing small sellers who sell pre-owned items (recycling), low priced items out of business in favor of the big corporate resellers.  I've sold for 12 years as added income but am now loosing money.  I'm a Power Seller with an excellent reputation and have been very loyal to ebay.  They are not loyal to me.  I'm done, after the Christmas season, I QUIT!

I agree with ALL above as well.  In addition, here are my grievances.

eBay is in essense telling me to be available FULL TIME, when this is only a part time job for me right now.  I am working HARD to make it full time, but this new 1-day shipping knocks me down.  I now have to be available to ship within 24 hours, 1-day handling.  That in and of itself wouldn't be too big of an issue, if in fact it wasn't brought to light that this is 24 hours AFTER THE BUYER PAYS!!!  So say I have 50 auctions ending on Sunday, 10 of which the buyer pays immediately, 10 pay on Mon, 8 pay on Tues, 5 pay on Wed and so on.  eBay is now telling us part-time sellers that we MUST be available now according to WHENEVER the buyer choses to pay, in order to receive Top-Rated seller status and an additional discount.  This has DESTROYED my business, I have lost my top-rated icon, and I'm feeling it.  I will soon be researching more on the advantages of selling on Amazon.

Here are my suggestions to eBay (which I emailed them):

1.)  Get rid of the required 1-day shipping altogether.  Listen to your sellers, this is not helpful to us.  My feedback was perfect and my DSR was 4.9 in shipping time.  You tried to fix what wasn't broke and now I'M suffering!

2.)  Keep the 1-day handling, but only require it for buyers who pay WITHIN 24 hours.  If you're going to hold us to 24 hour standard, hold the buyer to it as well.  This is now the buyer's advantage and motive for immediate payment.  You tell them when they purchase, "You have 1 week to pay (or whatever), but this seller ships within 24 hours IF payment is received within 24 hours".

3.)  Reduce the 90% auction requirement to 80% or lower.  90% is too high, especially for part-time sellers, which brings me to:

4.)  Allow sellers the option to select whether they are part-time or not.  IF they are full time, then demand this requirement of them but give them a higher discount.

5.)  Before enacting ANY policy, see individual seller's performance.  How would this benefit them?  How can we (eBay) make sure we are doing all we can to keep OUR customers (sellers)?  I have amazing listings, perfect pictures, low shipping, and always pay my fees on time.  I MAKE YOU LOOK GOOD SMOKIN HOT EBAY!!!  As I said, for me you tried to fix what wasn't broke...but dangit, it's broke now!

6.)  As always, lower the fees.  These little piddly "free-listing" fees are rediculous and unhelpful.  Lower the over-all final value percentages in all categories and paypal fees.  Make it more attractive for sellers to do what they love...sell.

Over all, I prefer #1...which is why it's listed first.

I have already told my supplier not to purchase on account of me right now.  I will evaluate on the 20th (my next top-rated seller evaluation) and determine IF I will be even selling on eBay any more.  In the meantime, Amazon is looking promising and I'll continue to research that possibility.

Yes, I too am sick of E-bay, Everytime they change a policy it pushes me deeper into the amazon market place. Sick of the fee's, sick of stupid idiotic changes every few months, and most certainly sick of E-bay, the communist company NEVER standing behind the seller! The feedback system is SO FLAWED, even when a feedback is a blatant LIE these idiots wont retract it. What happened to the vision of this company. What happened to "dont bite the hand that feeds you???" Well their biting, and I've had about all I can take. Amazon get's most of my business now and all I use e-bay for is a dumping ground. Good job for driving a once proud e-bay seller away from your company.

This change really stinks. I feel as if I'm being punished with the 1 day requirement.  As much as I try, there are some days I cannot meet the 1 day nrequirement. I am a Cancer patient and have been undergoing doctors treatment/surgery in the past 18 mos, and at one point unable to get out of bed for 3 mos. BUT, I did get my Ebay orders out, usually within 2-3 days. When I have a good day, it's one day turn around... Basically I guess we get punished when we take a day off or go on a vacation or wind up in the hospital  Ebay is really starting to suck!

Ebay supervisors are totally useless, and provide no help with all their system problems. I have now waited 3 week for a call back from a Supervisior, and suppose I will never hear back. It appears all help is in Asia...

Ebay thinks of their own pockets and could care less about their sellers.. Amazon is starting to look more and more appealing!:(

1 day shipping. I'm thinking of what company on the planet, large or small who can pull this off. Apple ships in 5 days, so does Microsoft. The Chinese ship in 2 days but it takes a month for their goods to get here, if they ever do. Who wants their s**t anyway?

This is all about Ebay's desire to be a retail giant at the cost of the smaller guys. There are ways around this, simply don't do it. Tell your buyers in your listings that it'll take  two days or whatever, if they don't like it, well they can go to the guy that says he'll do it, but can't anyway. Ebay has tinkered with this so much it's now broken. Good old greed. I still can't believe they have the gall to place a FVF on the shipping now. That one really gets me.

I had the same results with ebay.  My problem that I was also dealing with dropshippers who represented part of my business and they controlled the shipping which was definitely not one day service.

This is a HUGE "pet peeve" of mine!!  I sell items that, very rarely, can be sent out in the one day shipping time that e-bay is making a huge deal over.  I sell pictures that I hand mat.  If I'm doing even SORT OF good in sales, I can not possibly mat the item, pack it as it needs to be to protect it during shipping and get it to the post office in ONE DAY!

I have a "one person" business, which I am sure many of you relate to also.  I don't pass off any of the work of my business - I do everything from personally answering e-mails, to listing my items, to matting them, packing them and shipping them - "drop shipping" here - no employees - just me.

HOW in heavens name am I supposed to do my work in one day, when I get multiple orders per day.  I have a 5 day shipping time so that I can keep my word and get their item(s) shipped in the time I promise in my listing and if I do get it out earlier, which I try very hard to do, then all the better. I believe keeping my word is waaaayyyyyyyyy more important than giving a one day shipping promise that I can't possibly keep!  Yeah - then get negative feedback for SLOW SHIPPING!!

E-bay pushes one-day shipping no matter what you sell or how you pack your items or what is involved in the entire process! Everyone is lumped together no matted how many sales per day, what your item is, what is involved in the process of getting it ready to mail, how busy your business is or if you are a single business owner or a store front owner using e-bay for extra sales, on top of their walk in sales!!

Can you tell I'm upset?  I am!  I have lost my "Top Seller" tag for the first time in years because of this new rule! Even though my sales are doing better, people are leaving me good+ feedback, I am working my butte (sorry!) off to try and keep my name in good standing - I STILL have lost my Top Seller rating because of this ridiculous rule! And to top it all off - I am paying MORE now than ever before to e-bay for the HONOR of selling my items on their site!   (Oh yeah - AND they HIGHLIGHT at the top of the listing that I have 5 day shipping! Like - "beware! this bad, BAD seller is making you wait so long for your item!!)

Thanks for the perks e-bay - I appreciate it!!

Now I worry that they will be mad at me somehow for venting here!  Someone tell me they don't do that yet?!  When will e-bay do something GREAT and truly helpful for their sellers, us, the ones who they make so much money from?  I'm despairing of every seeing it happen!
