So, I was doing some shopping today, and the lady behind me in line at the cash register asked me about my purse. I said that yes, it is a Coach Carly, and when she asked, I told her I got it at the Coach Store in Shreveport. At which point, she proudly displayed her hideous Foach, and bragged that she had gotten it at a local flea market for $20.
I explained to her in a neutral tone that her item was counterfeit, illegal, and most likely made in a sweat shop. Well, needless to say, she was furious. She sputtered that fakes are the same as the real thing, but just cost less. I, again in a neutral tone, told her that that is not the case. One is legal, and the other is not. I also suggested that she contact the FBI if she has more questions about it.
Before I could even get that last part out, she flounced off in a huff, and the other lady in line and I got a good laugh.
I readily acknowledge that Coach is a mid-tier designer brand, but I like their stuff. I don't have the funds to carry an LV or Hermes or a high end bag like that. I've carried Coach for over 20 years, and I hate how the counterfeiters have diluted the brand so much.
I don't usually preach to people about fakes, but when they give me an opening like that, I just can't resist!
