I want to remind everyone that we're holding a 'get together' at PIPEX 2012 next week It's scheduled for Saturday in the Hawthorne Room from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Remember, even lurkers are welcome! :)

The latest update to the PIPEX web page doesn't have us listed, and the web designer passed away last week, so it's unlikely to be fixed before the show. :(

Do to the apparent lack of understanding someone has to posting messages on the chat board, and failure to remove most of them.  I am  just posting to bring main threads back on the top page.

Billsey,

agreed,

to me the Club has to be on the Ebay site or it will just become another site for Anti Ebay ravings and there are already plenty of those with vast amounts of postings about Ebay's rules & charges and citings of misdescribed items.

This site is better suited whereby anyone can ask a question about a certain lot and without mentioning that there may be problems with the description, someone will comment about the item.

As there is no joining fee & subscription I cannot understand why many of the regulars do not belong especially when there have been many instances of show and tell which have brought out interesting material.

Talking about show and tell, it is about time we had another one and the incoming President should make that his (or her) 1st. priority.

As I suggested some time ago I am not in favour of a simple alphabetic system but would prefer a more complex one, starting with AA.

Anyone with Aardvarks on Stamps, covers from Aachen (or Aix-La-Chappel), must be some other examples I haven't thought although AB will be easy (Abutshi in Nigeria), AB for Alberta in Canada etc.

I, like postalhysteria, have never joined the EUSC, but rather am a casual observer, reader, balcony-dweller, used to at times participate in the meeting topic, etc.  While I in no way condone or agree with stamps12345's puerile rant, he does (dare I say it) have a valid point.  Isn't this club, for all intents and purposes, pretty much dead since the transition from the old chat board to this sorry excuse for a forum (criticism directed at eBay, not the few remaining participants)?

I am bringing this up because I think that ant-ra may be right in suggesting to take this elsewhere, where the format is better suited.  I participate in a number of German-language stamp boards, a truly exemplary one is www.stampsx.com.  Just wondering is something along those lines could be replicated for an international audience with English as the common language?

The key, I think, to the success of the club is it's ready access by members of the eBay community. That's tough to do with an external forum, as is evidenced by the other attempts made in the past.  If we were just another philatelic group then an external board would make sense, but since we are committed to being a support for collectors doing business on eBay we pretty much need to stick to the venues that eBay provides us.

That's not to say that people would not get the same support without the club structure, but the structure does give us the ability to better support people. If only because of the 'official' status provided by being an APS affiliate.

Bill,  I am just getting back on my feet from a pro-longed illness. Along with that I am in the middle of moving my household to Oklahoma.  I just don't think I could do the job at this time.  I will second the motion for Cobbie however  :)
