Does anybody have information and value about these pre Scott listed Marshall Island stamps? I have a set of perf sheets and a set of imperf sheets(25 stamps to a sheet ,4 stamps to a set). Plus a perf ,imperf and a perf overprinted specimen souvenir sheets.

If that's the six inch across 75 cent stamp then it holds the record for the largest postage stamp every made. The Marshall Islands became independent in 1979 and I guess they wanted to make a statement to the world.


All know the way, but few follow it.

I am working on an article for one of our publications, Stamp News Online. Written by Geir Sør-Reime, he states, "

After the initial formation of the Marshall Islands government, unauthorized stamp issues inscribed MARSHALL ISLANDS came on the market in 1979. Two sets exist, one celebrating the establishment of the government of the Marshall Islands, the other commemorating the Year of the Child. It appears that an agency in Japan prepared these stamps in collaboration with Marshall Islands authorities, but that in the end, no authorization for their issue was granted by the Marshall Islands government."
