As we previously announced in February, we are currently updating our system for billing your selling fees. For more information on these changes, and to see examples of our new features, please see our Frequently Asked Questions.


Update: We are aware that some members’ accounts that have been migrated to the new billing system have inaccurate balances, due to fees and credits appearing twice. This issue will be resolved in the next few days, and any incorrect billing transactions will be reversed. Please note that eBay will adjust balances before deducting any funds from sellers who automatically pay their fees from a credit card or bank account. For more updates on this migration, please see this discussion thread.


Safety Message: Please be aware that you do not need to take any action for your account to be moved to the new billing system, and eBay will not send you any emails asking you to take action. Should you receive such a request, please regard it as a suspicious email. Do not reply or click on links contained in the email, and please forward it to spoof@ebay.com. Thank you for finally posting something about this. Lots of folks have been very concerned about these incorrect balances. Heads must be rolling because your billings are evidently delayed due to these problems. But thanks for not charging my bank account when it could be for a wrong amount.

Advice to eBay management - STOP THE CONSTANT TWEAKING AND FIDDLING WITH THE SOFTWARE. THESE CHANGES INVARIABLY BREAK STUFF THAT HAD BEEN WORKING OK PREVIOUSLY!! IF YOU DO MAKE CHANGES, IMPLEMENT QUALITY CONTROL MEASURES TO CATCH PROBLEMS INSTEAD OF RELYING ON USERS TO REPORT PROBLEMS AFTER THE FACT.

I AM SO GLAD YOU HAVE FINALLY POSTED SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE! I HAVE SENT AN TREMENDOUS AMOUT OF UNANSWERED EMAILS TO EBAY BILLING, I ATTEMPTED LIVE ADVISE AS WELL. I SPENT 9 HOURS GOING THROUGH EVERY SINGLE EBAY TRANSACTION TO FIND ERROR, I EVEN BELIEVED MY ACCOUNT HAD BEEN BROKEN INTO, I SHOULD HAVE BEEN LISTING NEW LIVE ITEMS, INSTEAD I WAS SEARCHING RECORDS AND HISTORY OF MY FEES AND PAYMENTS. I HONESTLY BELIEVE YOU SHOULD HAVE POSTED THIS PROBLEM DAYS AGO, I WOULD NOT HAVE SPENT SO MUCH TIME AND EFFORT TO FIND MISTAKES. I PAY VIA PAYPAL 3 TIMES MONTHLY, MY AMOUNT DUE MADE MY HEAD SPIN! I ACTUALLY HAVE OVERPAID! I WILL NOW PAY MUCH CLOSER ATTENTION TO MY FEES AND CREDITS! PLEASE MAKE ANNOUNCEMENTS MORE PROMPLY IN THE FUTURE,SAVE MEMBERS STRESS AND UNNECESSARY WORK.AN EMAIL REPLY WOULD BE NICE AS WELL.

the billing system sucks..I was told my bill would be withdrawn on the fifth but I wanted to pay early ( no indication on site that billing was already in process)and paid with debit card on the second..they took my money twice..then refused to write a letter to the bank to reverse one or the other transaction..just promising me a "refund" in thirty days..this double payment caused a string of overdraft charges on my bank account and they don't care and refuse to pay them..I will be out of ebay as soon as my obligations to other members is done..
they want their money but don't care what it does to us..

I have paid eBay $206.04 through Paypal Starting Feb 04 to March 30th and it is not showing that I paid that amount ,it only shows that I have paid $105.58 Where is the other $100.46 Payment? Now I am being billed for $155.and Something! It shows on Paypal that I have paid this amount! What happened that eBay did not get it? Did Paypal not pay? I am sure they did because ebay accepted each payment I sent. So please get this straightened out soon!I do not owe $155.

Yes, the message from eBay peronnel is long overdue. The overcharges aren't a mere technical issue; they're representative of much more. When political figures make mistakes, the public demands that responsinility for the mistake is announced right away. It is unconscionable to merely ignore the electorate--or in eBay's case, its clientele--and not make a public announcement.
Howevr, this is par for the course for eBay, The announcement boards are worthless, Technical errors of any kind aren't announced until days after the error has been mended--if even then.
My personal sense is that this is not the first case of billing errors, It is simply the most egregious.

I was one of the lucky people who were billed twice for my auctions in Feb.
Does Ebay know whose accounts they messed up with or do I have to contact them? I do not see any refunds from them in my account.

Man O Live~ Heads are probably rolling with this SNAFU. What a MESS. My account which was under 100.00 jumped from 831 to 470- 296 and now sits over 300 dollars. I owe them under 70 bucks. I have emailed ebay several times (TO DATE HAVE NOT EVEN REC. the standard reply email) Talked on the phone with a person who was nice but CLUELESS and when he refreshed my billing page was also almost DUMBFOUNDED as it jumped around from Figure to Figure. On Sunday I suggested that I might not be the only one having this problem and since they weren't interested in emailing me back perhaps USING THE ANNOUNCEMENT PAGE would help ease some peoples Blood pressure and Heartbeats. Someone suggested to me that eBay is using the high numbers to have a BANNER Quarter and that we will get our funds back after the NUMBERS COME IN FOR THE Quarter. I hope they dont debit our accounts and then SUGGEST we work off a CREDIT. Its absolutely POOR MANAGEMENT.....IF it ISN'T BROKEN dont FIX IT.

Susierules, to make it even worse, I never even knew I was double billed until I stumbled onto a thread about it! No email from Ebay, nothing.
Imagine all those people on Ebay as clueless about this as I!

I see that if I view from the dates 03/01/04 to 04/08/04 that the total at the bottom of the itemized listing is correct, unlike the total at the top of the page.

If I view the date range 04/01/04 to 04/08/04 the itemized listing matches the top balance because it does not account for any of the payments I made through Paypal.

I sent mail to Ebay stating this, but they told me that the current invoice was correct (it very obviously isn't) and that they are charging me the incorrect amount, $33.55. Total I owe them $20.xx.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to stop in and give you an update provided by the Billing department. While I can’t stay at the moment to answer questions, please know that they are paying close attention and wanted to give you some more information on the issues they are seeing:

1) Double Fees being charged for parts of February:
While converting accounts to the new billing system, some listings from February and March were copied into the new system twice. Both fees and credits were impacted. Although your Account Status page may now show double charges and credits in February, your February invoice did not include these duplicates. February 29th invoices were correct.

2) March invoice incorrect:
The incorrect duplicate fees and credits from February were included on members’ March 31st invoice. The balance due on these invoices is incorrect. We are correcting the balances right now, and will finish before we make any charges on your credit card or bank account. We are emailing all members who will be receiving an incorrect invoice.

3) Mysterious refunds:
Some sellers are seeing 'mysterious' refunds on their accounts that they didn't request. The new billing system is refunding any amount paid over the previous invoice balance due. We are working to get this situation resolved.

4) Rounding issues:
We know that some members are seeing some rounding issues, and we are looking into this as well.

I have been pulling my hair out for days!!!!!!
Though it was just lucky me.
Every time I check my Status Report its different!
Ended March with +11.00 Now I owe them $78.00
Emails are of little help (I feel your pain!!)
Fix this mess !!!!!!!! NOW!!
OR File a complaint with the California AG's office.

Not only has FeeBay found every conceivable way to charge a fee for a listng. Now there are so many line items on a monthly statement that they figure no one has enough hours in a given day to be able to scrutinize their bill. What the hell! Charge them twice for a listing, they won't notice. The percentage to sell on EBay has increased so dramatically that no one will miss another $100 from their account. All of the exces must be looking for another stock split - they have run out of BMW's to give away for new ideas on how to skin the Sellers.

What kind of cut rate accounting firm did eBay hire? Did they get their accounting software off of the clearance rack? Did they actually pay somebody to write this program and implement the change? I want to know who these people are because they are really unproffesional and incompetent. For the software problems to be this severe and taking this long to correct is really unbelievable. These errors have been going on since FEBRUARY! Ebay isn't being run out of the founder's spare bedroom anymore, its a publicly owned company and it HAS TO account to its shareholders and its users. I have three different balances for my sellers fees for March. The lowest one is correct, tho eBay denies it. I for one will not be listing anything until this is cleared up. What kind of shoddy outfit is this!!!
