Discontinued food items you wish they still made!

My top three discontinued grocery store (junk food) items are:

Pizza Bake by Hambuger Helper
Sanderson's Farm Honey battered dipped corn dogs. Sams

and back in the late 90's Planters came out with a
snack food that was in the shape of a peanut a crispy shell outside with a creamy peanut butter on the inside.
They were so good. I would buy two or three bags at a time. I thought it would be fun to know what everybody missed.
Oh yeah! The 70's candy Space Dust it came in cherry, orange and grape flavors.

I was thinking FIZZIES too because there were so many things you could do with them to while away a boring summer afternoon! But also we used to get bacon strips (uncooked) in a can - they called it Canadian Bacon -- haven't seen it for years!

Boy, this brings back lots of memories. I found Wheat Nuts at one of our grocery stores. Found Green Goddess Salad Dressing at Wal-Mart. The Vermont Country Store carries lots of old time favorites.
I miss peanut butter and jelly poptarts They were so good!

Folks looking for Green Goddess salad dressing:

It's still made by Kraft under the "Seven Seas" brand name. My wife loves the stuff. Got a brand new 16 ounce jar in the pantry now.

If you can't find Piccalilli, see if you can find Chow Chow (it's the same thing - green tomato relish).

Space Food Sticks -- not because they were good, but because they were so bizarre.

Loved Fizzies -- we used to see how long we could hold one in our mouths with our mouth closed!

Franco-American made macaroni and cheese in a can.

I'll bet many of the candies mentioned here are still available from the Vermont Country Store.

I miss Frito Lay Bacon horseradish potao chips. As a child they were the best. They stopped making them 20+ years ago.
Just a Quick FYI, Vermont Country Store has the worst customer service I have ever incountered. Worst than the worst seller I have delt with here on Ebay. I get their catalogs and they go right in the recycle bin.

Hydrox Cookies. Oreos are a cheap imitation.

Sara Lee orange cake.

BirdsEye peas in cream sauce.

And some kind of date bar with a crumb topping whose name escapes me...

Kikkoman Steak Sauce (not soy sauce)

Fruit Brute cereal w/the lime-flavored mallows (an acquired taste?)

Soft drinks made with real sugar

Mr Pibb (the original flavor, not XTRA carp)

Can't recall which company made the kit, one of the big cake mix ones... but Fudge Jumbles. I don't think I've seen them in 20 plus years. There are a million more, but this one seriously keeps me up at nights. Oh, and Stir and Frost cake mixes!

I miss Coke with Lime.... now they only have Diet coke with lime and i don't drink diet :o( I loved to drink it with pepper jack doritoes.


A store near me carries Fruit Stripes Gum. I saw it the other day. In fact, they have a whole section of vintage candies they brought back.

I miss "Top Shelf." It was a microwavable little meal that didn't require refrigeration. Best was a Spanish or Mexican style chicken with rice - yum!

Have tried some of the non-refrigerated microwave meals lately, hoping they'll be similar. Yuck! They taste like dog food smells.

(promisethatiskept ... Quentin, otherwise known as the reason your foods get discontinued. LOL!! Nice(?) to know someone else feels like that, too!)
