Discontinued food items you wish they still made!

May 23, 2007 10:32 PM
My top three discontinued grocery store (junk food) items are:

Pizza Bake by Hambuger Helper
Sanderson's Farm Honey battered dipped corn dogs. Sams

and back in the late 90's Planters came out with a
snack food that was in the shape of a peanut a crispy shell outside with a creamy peanut butter on the inside.
They were so good. I would buy two or three bags at a time. I thought it would be fun to know what everybody missed.
Oh yeah! The 70's candy Space Dust it came in cherry, orange and grape flavors.

Kittyeyed, they still make TAB. Check local beer distributors. That's where I get mine. I'm drinking it now.

Another thing I miss is Stroehmann's chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. Yum!

Hi Everyone, I was just reading your posts and I remember lots of those. My husband found a site, "Nuts on Line". They have lots of old fashioned things. It is a wonderful site. Best of luck on your journey to find what you miss!!!Jan

Green Goddess Salad Dressing

I remember Green Goddess -- and it was one of my favorites too! Paul Newman had a low-fat Italian dressing that it discontinued a few years back (I think I bought the last bottle, lol!).

I get Green Goddess at Walmart supercenter. It's the only place around here that sells it. When I go there I buy a couple because I don't get there that often and I love Green Goddess

Discontinued food items they still make, but are hard to find!

I actually suggested to Vermont Country Store that they possibly try to locate/begin carrying Fizzies soft drink tablets via their on-line customer request program. Fizzies were once again reintroduced back into 'the market' a few years ago and are now currently available in seven different flavors, but I've asked Fizzies.com to possibly add three more; i.e., Cola, Strawberry, and Grape. I don't recall them tasting so bland when I was a kid, as it now takes me about three of the tablets to generate any substantial flavor when dropped inside a .5 L bottle of water; however, they're at least a change from consuming diet sodas/soft drinks.

Vermont Country Store also carries Garibaldi current-filled biscuit bars which haven't been in grocery stores (stateside) for well over two decades now. These were once my favorite several years ago and I still periodically order these...that is, when I can scrape together enough money - they ain't cheap!

As of late, I haven't been able to locate Anisette Sponge biscotti-type toasts by Stella D'Oro in any of the major supermarkets, but this item is still available from some on-line stores. Unfortunately, it seems that the older I get, not only do I lose friends, but also those food stuffs which I have also enjoyed throughout the years.

Vermont Country Store has a lot of old stuff you don't see anymore. sen sen, orange tango lipstick, spoolies. Lots of neat stuff

I used to drink tab. It didn't always taste nasty. One day I bought a bottle and yuk something happened. I thought it was still made.

I can never fine Orange Crush and I think they no longer make Bubble up soda

Special C cereal I think it was made by Kellog. It was in a little box with gold waping. Tasted like wheat germ. I love it as a kid

Orange Crush soda. Old London chips. They were cheesy and like a waffle.

Old London chips, the ones like waffles with cheese in the middle, are still being made. I found them at a local convenience store and at a Giant supermarket. And yes, they're good!
