By the way, I may be picking your brain again in a day or few.

Yeah?  What is going down?  Is the water heater leaking again?  How is the A/C working?

I sure hope it is not too bad.  I worry about your house and you guys needing to take care of the maintenance issues.

It really is cool though that you are so very willing to invest your "Sweat Equity" the way you have been!

I'm going to run under the trailer (there's an interesting visual. LOL) tomorrow with the a/c going. It's better, just still not even in the slightest. I sense there's more of an issue.

<snip>

Yes, I was getting posts pulled left and right yesterday, too, but I wasn't getting slapped for them.  Unless the slaps are in my spam folder.  Nope, not there.  This place is crazy.

>>>>Umm, Lucky, I got notices from them in my regular e-mail with a quote of what I said that got pulled and the reason for it being pulled. I do believe it said "reported" so maybe I'm being stalked too?<<<<

Mine was a real Pink Slap.

I haven't gotten one in years.

Actually the last one was on April 4 2009, when I got the notice that I was permanently sent to eBay Jail.

When John B got us paroled I thought he was a pretty good guy, but I have my doubts now.

[/quote]

>>>>>rrrrobins, what exactly is a real pink slap?<<<<<

April 4th?

That's a very ominous day.:O

I got 16 in one day ...the first time I had ever gotten even one.

16= 4x4

>>>>Wow, TG, that's a tremendous # of post pulls. I think I got like 6 yesterday, didn't really count 'em. Were you being stalked?<<<<<

Snipe-Dog1 ... I am so sorry if you got in trouble, and I do so hope it was not because of me.  You should never publicly have been so kind.

>>>>Listen, here, little girl. And I quote (or something near to a quote): "I, tempestgrace, never let ANYBODY tell me what to say or do, blah, blah, blah." So, if I wanna praise your grace in public, I believe I just darn will! So there.<<<<

Lucky:-x .... awwweeeee!

Did he tell you to post the pic?

>>>>He's making himself the present for Father's Day. Either that or he's hinting to Lucky that he would look mighty fine in his own cadillac :^O <<<<

... remind him he's got the iceberg!

Snipe,

A "Real" pink slap is when you receive an email message from either an eBay or Liveworld employee that your post has been removed for some reason.  It generally includes a quote of your post and a general description of the reason it was removed.

If you receive too many of these messages then you may receive what is known as a "Pink Vacation" which is when you are suspended from posting for a period of time, generally 7 days.

If you continue to have pink slaps then you may be permanently suspended from posting.

The bad thing about it and one of the things that so many people complained to JohnB about was that some people have multiple user IDs (socks) and go on a slapfest against their adversary in order to get them a vacation.

It is generally the miscreants that can not carry themsleves in a debate that do these type of things.  This works fairly well because neither eBay nor Liveworld actually seems to read the posts that are reported and just remove them when enough reports have been collected.

and then there was the Big Group Snipe!

I totally lost track of Milli. Zeke too. I still email with Siggy, and ddash emailed me a few weeks ago & said he was not well :(. Quackers is still kicking duck butt on FB and taking no prisoners after I lost count of how many breast cancer surgeries. NJWolf I lost track of too.

Snipe-dog, you got caught up in that fracas in April of 09 when the Restaurant was burned? Dare I ask who you were known as in those days? Scarlet, Jigup & Pencil aka Sketchy are the only ones who didn't have to assume a new persona.

...and where's that marching singing  M:-x:-xN shine?

It would figure that I return to PLU, after you have already departed for dinner, huh TempestGrace:-x?

Great job Adrienne:-x, on the dream research.  This is an area, I do not have much experience.  I so rarely remember my dreams, so this area of study, never garnered much of my attention.

I have a couple of books on dream symbology in my resale inventory, but I'm too much of a slacker, to go pull them out of storage at the moment.

Those do seem to be ominious portents of dream symbology Delta:-x.   They could be messages from the deep subconsious mind.  Or then again...maybe it was something you ate.  ;)

Of the dreams I have remembered, those are often quite vivid.  And they make no sense at all, other than to leave me befuddled, pondering, "Where in the world did THAT come from?"

Many years ago, I dreamt that I was shopping for handbags with  RoseAnne Barr?   I was not a fan, nor even a viewer of the RoseAnne show, so for the life of me, I do not HOW this woman featured in my dream about shopping?

And once when I was pregnant, I dreamt I gave birth to a litter of puppies?   I later heard rumor, that women often have strange dreams when they are pregnant.

And during an afternoon nap, fairly recently, I had a very vivid dream, in which the actor,  Matthew McConaughey was trying to "get with me" in a very peristent, romantic way.   Only it wasn't the actor, it was his character, Palmer Joss, the Christian Philosopher (preacher man), from the movie, Contact.  (Carl Sagan authored the book.)

I'm not even going to attempt to ponder, what subsconsious messages might have been at the root of that dream, for all I know, it had more to do with my state of celibacy.  :^O

On a creative note.  I went on an excursion this afternoon, to Michael's Craft Store.  As they had some pretty compelling coupons this week, and today was the last day to use them.   Oh, and I thought of Adrienne, while I was shopping.  They had foam paint brushes on sale, 14 for $1.00.

Another hail storm rolled in while I was shopping, so I was in no big hurry to leave, and spent well over an hour just browing around.

Wow yeah, April 4, '09, that's when 100 posts poofed from the Restaurant thread, we were over 10700 until then. It evaporated on 04/05/09. I have it all archived and at one point send a CD of it to all the miscreants.

Carpie crappie, seize the fish!

Delta, drink plenty of water, maybe some Gatorade or sweet tea also. I would never eat any prepared food at Walmart. My Walmart has a Subway in it... drool... fresh bread... I won't buy meat at Walmart either. I'm OK with their veggies, which they actually seem to source locally.

It was for Quackers that I put the pink duck in my siggy all those years ago.

Matthew McC, what a hunk! He was on DDD with Guy Fieri the other day, having a great time! I made these new necklaces that my DD's fiance actually tried on and said he might wear to the beach (since he just got back) and we all said that M McC would wear them.

I don't remember him in Contact. Odd. I've seen that movie a bunch! I remember him so well in Sahara!

I remember the Restaurant thread.  Someone invited me too it.  I think it might have been you, Burnsie.  I think I took a look but do not recall posting to it.

Boy that sure was the crowd back in those days!

Hey Burnsie,

Did I mention that I gave DW the necklace with your pendant on it?

She was utterly thrilled and really loved the stone!  She honed right in on the streak of Turquoise!

I told her the whole story on how that particular piece came to be and she was amazed that so many people under so many different circumstances had a hand in the final product.

She wanted me to mention that you had a good eye for stones and a real talent with making the pendant.

She said that with it attached to the sand dollar it was sort of like having the beach with her.

Would you wear something like this necklace?

Hope your innards are settling down.

I am not a jewelry kind of guy.

I guess it goes back to my wrench-turning days when you did not wear jewelry because it might get caught in moving parts and rip off the body part to which it was attached.

I have not worn my wedding ring for most of the time I was married and I do not even wear a watch.  Over time I just got out of the habit of wearing jewelry, watches and such.

I do think the necklace is nice though but not my style.

Nope, 'twasn't me. I've always been snipe-dog1 on the fora. I remember seeing some "Restaurant at the End" stuff on SC when I first started coming to the fora in Sept. 2010, but I don't really think I posted anything. But being a very huge fan of H2G2, I did read the posts and got such a kick out of all the references in it.

Wonder what brain activity kicks in when you are watching the news or reading a blog or the boards and there is even the tiniest reference to H2G2 and you recognize it and know that there are people out there who DON'T recognize it, but you still get this little tickly feeling and an internal smile (or even an external smile if the reference is particularly apropos). Could there ever be a human who does not have a primal reaction to such references to former life events?

Who never to himself hath said "Hey, I recognize that. I was part of that. I experienced that. That's a good memory from my past. Brings back the same feelings I experienced when I first read that." Or something to that effect.

I also wonder how many "references" I have missed or not caught on to because it wasn't part of my past experience?

It's got to be some sort of brain endorphin thing because I just get such a kick out of nostalgic references and I always have a higher opinion of the person who provided the nostalgic "trip back in time." I love people with a keen sense of irony, too. Sometimes get blown away by how clever people are or how smart they are.

I love being around or involved with people I think are smart, but I always feel intimidated by them because I know I'm not as smart as they are. I feel like they are the celebrity and I'm the adoring fan (I have all I can do to refrain from being a complete sycophant).

I'm heavily into stream-of-consciousness right now - don't know why. Prolly should blame it on Marvin. He's always stimulating my "nostalgia" endorphins.

Well, it's again the witching hour in NWO. So I'm headin' fer beddin'.

'Night, All.

Good grief, this was the quote that my long post was responding to. Don't know how I messed it up.

Burnsy, what made you think I was involved in the "fracas" in '09?

As I said, I have 3 other IDs (1 seller, 1 buyer, and 1 zero-feedback ID I occasionally use on other fora than SC), but, though I remember something about the Restaurant (was it its own forum?), but I don't think I ever posted or responded to any posts.

Many guys I know do not wear any kind of jewelry. I quite wearing my rings when I had my hands in clay every day, never mind in the garden. I can't get any of the "usual" ones on anymore.

I bought DH a nice gold chain when he moved down here in 82. All the guys I'd been dating wore them with some kind of a charm. Not gaudy bling, but hefty enough chain to be noticed. DH acted like I'd given him a snake to wear around his neck. I made Very Sure that I never ever gave him anything remotely resembling jewelry after that. He was quite rude about it! I did give him a wedding ring though, as the one exception.

sd, the mention of being Banned on April 4, 2009 - that was the very day that the original Restaurant Thread was burned to the ground, and many posters were given the eternal "90 days" which must have been on a galactic scale. The timing you mentioned was just so on-target, and there are many still missing!

I got sucked into the thread by reference to the HG, as did many others. We found kindred souls, having shared that series of novels at least, and it turned out that many of us became BFFs from that association. I've always said that it was like if we went to a convention (Maybe eBay Live in the old days), we would have been that noisy group over in the corner howling with laughter night after night with no one else "getting" us!

As for smart, I think most of us who hang out together are pretty quick to catch on. I don't know about book smart, but life smart, yep, and for sure not too poor to pay attention!
