Lucky, there's a saying that mechanics use when trying to fit a bolt  - "put some hair around it". Your DH hs probably heard that, LOL!

A nickel for every time I have heard THAT!!!!

When I was a young Airman, a bunch of us were working ii the same vehicle trying to get it back on the road quickly (it must have been a priority or something) and one of the guys was having trouble threading a bolt that was in a tight place.

He kept cursing it so we all took a look at what he was doing and one of the other guys said, "Put some FUR around it!"

Well, we all busted out laughing and the commenter was not sure why until someone questioned his sexual desires relating to creatures that had fur instead of hair!!!!!

I have been out cleaning, rearranging and packing things in the RV.  DW had gone through and picked out the things she wanted to keep and toss so I volunteered to handle the rest.

I started going through all the stuff iin the bathroom cabinets and found a year's supply of feminine hygene products and her German brand of deodorant.  I guess she had stocked up on all that stuff so she would not run out when we were on the road!

I am thinking of boxing it all up and shipping it to her as a sort of care package!]:)

It really amazes me how much space her stuff occupied.  Once I removed all her stuff there is not a TON of space left over!  Looks like I willl be traveling with a couple of empty cabinets now!

I guess women need alll sorts of equipment that men do not!

LOL at you sending her that stuff, Delta!  Imagine her reaction when she opened the package!  :^O

I'll have to remember to ask my husband about that phrase.

Delta, you know this, but for the others, when they banned OT on SC, I emailed John.  Delta asked me to pass on his thoughts, as well, so I did, including the part where he called John a liar.  John wanted to know what Delta thought he'd lied about, and I rattled off a list of the things I thought he had.  He agreed that I was right about most of it.  So, I'll give him that, but he still disappointed and betrayed me greatly.

I passed up the opportunity to talk to John back when. My phone number was the NC one I had been using and it got disconnected after I left. I figured I would say too much, and it sounded like those of you who did speak to him said the important things.

I need to go mix cement. I am filling some PVC tubes for tent weights and decided if I was mixing cement I might as well fill in the hole in the front sidewalk that the plumber made 10 years ago when he replaced the water line. DH promised to fix it. Did I say that was 10 years ago? :O

Yes, and i am glad YOU contacted him on it because I fear I would not have been as kind in my respnses to him as you were.

I had to turn the A/C on as the temperature in the house rose to 86 degrees.  I did not want it to get any higher as the A/C would have to work harder and use more electricity to get it back down to 80 if it got any hotter.  I keep it set at 80.

Humidity is fairly high as well so even at a little over 80 inside it feels tremendously cooler inside than outside just from the lack of humidity inside.

I took a break from the RV work to sit here for a little while and cool down with some cold sweet tea and good company.

It seems like the fluid (tears) in my eyes is getting thicker.  They seem to water constantly and it makes everything out of focus/blurred until I blink the fluid out of my eyes.  Then I end up with blotches of blurred spots.

I wonder why.

People that work for eBay do as their told. If they want to keep their job. When you call CS that's exactly what their doing. They probably have a book to go by. Telling them what to say.

I am sure they do.  I am also sure they are told to tell the caller anything that makes the caller get off the line so they can take the next call.

A couple of months ago I saw a news type expose thing on CNBC that featured these call ccenters in India and that was EXACTLY what they were told to do... just get the caller off the phone and take the next call.

Of course then no one will admit that what the caller was told is true and they later back pedal if the caller tries to resolve the problem later.

Delta, I was thinking allergies, as well.  I didn't know until recently that you can develop them later in life.

A thought just occurred to me.  Since you don't have kids, you might not know what pink eye looks like.  Do you?

It's a shame, I wouldn't want to be in their line of work. I bet it's stressful. When they may want to help but are limited to what they can say.

No... not pink eye.  I have seen that from back when I was a medic.

This has been going on for a very long time.  I do not even remember now when it started but it has been troubling me for more than a year.

Most of the time I just blink it clear... or fairly clear anyway.

Delta, I had a lot of trouble this year with my eyes during peak pollen season. I found that going to damnyouoautocorrect.com and reading a few pages made me laugh until I cried and that rinsed my eyes nicely and I also felt much better :)

Allergies do occur from repeated exposure to substances causing an immune response. They can get worse over time and can also appear suddenly. The combinations of things we encounter add up. You have probably disturbed decades of allergens whilst cleaning the house. This is why I try to avoid housework. I have a dust allergy...

Delta, sounds like allergies to me. Try a cheap allergy med and see what happens. My dad's doctor insisted he couldn't have allergies. I convinced him to try my medicine, and he felt fine. X-(

Delta, good job of summarizing the history of UG and the forums.

BTW, did you post on the Boycott Forum? I don't remember.

I never came to the forums before JD's change announcement in Jan 2008. Then I found the Boycott Thread.

I was too intimidated to post at first, because there were so really intelligent people on that thread.

It took several months before I finally "dipped" my toe in the water, and discovered that my forte in posting was my ability to visualize concepts in pictures.

This was my first post.

Things haven't changed much, have they? :(

A little history for posters, who weren't around in 2008.

Delta is right about the people on the Boycott Forum being activists.

Here is a poster, which was put together  in a PDF file and which was available for distribution.  One of the posters had a website of Boycott info.  I lent my artistic abilities and knowledge of PhotoShop to the project.

I believe I did post on the Boycott thread.  Is that the one that Mrskillian hosted?

Back at that time I was posting so much I can not remember where/when I posted any longer.

I do recall posting extensively to the "Griff" threads and him imposing "Rules" as a result of some of my postings where I debunked his rhetoric.

Then there was the thing that I suggested when they forst announced the "No Neg for Buyers" plan.

They claimed that sellers were leaving retaliatory feedback for buyers that left them negative feedback so I suggested (directly to Griff among others) that they set it up so that feedback could not be viewed until either both members had left it or it could no longer be left.  Griff basically told me that the decision had been made and there would be no more consideration regarding the matter.

Soooooo many people warned that it would cause sellers problems and soooo many people outlined what those problems would be and soooo many people were right on the mark and we have realized just about everything that was warned of at the time.

Lucky, X-( indeed! It's still funny, just lots more junk ads that I'm still not going to look at. I can ignore the fool out of BS like that!

rrrrrobins, I posted that lovely writeup you did about the keywords over on the FB former AL boardie group. I think I invited you to the group. Bob, Sabrina, JT, bunch of their other non-SC friends. Caped, Bunn, Jill, couple new folks too. I don't know all of them or who they are/were here. Quite a few have their IDs as user names.
