How much wood did the wood chuck chuck? Sorry, I think CaddyShack & slain shrubberies!
I have not sent out much email in a while because I haven't gotten much new stuff worth passing on. Too many political nasty things going around instead Send me your email addy and I'll check - I didn't put names or ID's on them so they all look like strangers if I don't swap personal emails often.
I went to see the first screening of a new movie about the second Atlanta Pop Festival, in 1970. It was The Last Festival, and it was the last really BIG one. They estimated 500-600,000 people were there. It wasn't even in Atlanta - it was pretty much in Macon! Actually Byron, GA. There were a bunch of local bands there in the mornings - except the last day, when Richie Havens woke everyone up as the sun rose with his Here Comes The Sun. One little band had their first big gig as the opening act - the Allman Brothers!
This was a fun documentary. He had 50,000 ft of movie film, and most of it never got developed and has nearly rotted. The Kodak scientist who created that particular film has spent three years working on a way to process it. There is a wonderful grainy hazy quality to it. We have become accustomed to the Blair Witch type of filming and most of us can watch a movie where the quality of the film is not so good as long as there's a story. Or MUSIC!!!! He had a stereo (2 tracks, LOL, not surround sound) that matched the film. Supposedly there is an actual 8 track (24 is the new standard) of the whole three days that Sony has locked up in Iron Mountain that can be retrieved for the final cut of the film.
He alternates between scenes of the Hippies playing in the creeks and lakes and campgrounds with the bands playing. There is some conversation between the various hippies, but there was no narration. It was pretty cool. Most of us who were invited to the screening attended the original event. I am pretty sure I saw one of the people that I was with in a segment, and if I had been able to hit pause, I think all four of us were in it! I remember the situation well. A spontaneous percussion jam session broke out over in the campground, in the shade (July, middle Georgia, HOT HOT HOT), and everyone grabbed sticks and cans and things and got into it.
Jimi Hendrix was playing the Star Spangled Banner while the big fireworks went off. Just before the fireworks, there was a spectacular session of heat lightning in the distance.
You know what? Grand Funk Railroad was not very good, but they were one of the Big Name Bands. Poco was great, the Chambers Brothers were awesome, and BB King, well he was BB King! I have seen him one other time at a very small venue that was near Emory University called The Moonshadow. It was a small grocery store and they put a stage at one end and a bar at the other and there were tables & chairs and waitstaff. I saw the Allman Brothers there once also. That place could not have held more than 200 people! I saw Arlo Guthrie at another place about the same size. I guess no one wants to tour for the amount of money you could get from a place that size anymore. I was planning to go see Chris Isaak at the Botanical Gardens, but he cancelled that (was about $50 per ticket) and booked the Cobb auditorium and those tickets were like $150. So much for that!

OK I will share a pic of the new earrings and one of my "meat bags" for the grocery store. The earrings are called Stays On and were created by the Wig Jig folks and are copyright free - they want you to buy their jigs! They are very comfortable. I am field testing them, as I test all of my new designs.

The bag was made from DD1's old Mudd jeans that blew out in the crotch. I opened them up, cut out the crotch to square them off, then stitched them back together and sewed the bottom with a (forgot the term, want to say gussett) to square it off as well. I made handles from the cut off legs. I have them put my meats in the jeans so if it leaks I can toss the bag in the wash. I have a never ending supply of jeans...

Burns, those earrings are adorable, and I LOVE the bag! You are so amazing with your art. And I bet in later years, it was so cool to have seen the Allman Brothers before they hit it big!
Good morning all. We're in for a rainy day, so I finally have no excuse not to get the vacuuming and such done. Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.

Good morning, all. Cute woodchuck, cute blue jeans bag, and pretty earrings!
I thought it was going to be another dreary day, but the sun is trying to peek out from behind the clouds. The low this morning was 49! 49!!! In SEPTEMBER!!!!! Crazy!
The cell phone lady who helped us yesterday just called to make sure we liked our phones, and that everything was working well. I thought that was nice.

((((Marvin)))) Buddy would be more than happy to send you a few hours of rain.
((((Lucky)))) It is always nice when companies care enough to phone. I got a call from the bank a few days ago and immediately thought I had messed up the account. Turns out they were just making sure we were happy and that there were no problems. Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.

It IS an amazing experience when we have dealings with companies that actually *get* great CS....Used to be, back in the day, it was the norm, now with the obsession with 'bottom line' thinking, we get what they pay for (or not)... Some people are clinging hideously to their idiocy!

This cell phone company recently made a big shift toward giving great customer service, and I'm sure it is paying off for them. It's a shame that it's no longer the norm. I learned CS when I worked for Gymboree, the children's clothing store. They were all about giving excellent CS, which translated into big sales. These "bottom line" companies of which you speak, Bunn, should wake up to that. See my page for frequently used eBay discussion board acronyms.

My memories of Gymboree predate the clothing line. I took both girls to playtime at Gymboree in two or three different venues when it was just the Mom & Me kind of thing, before they had clothes.
A bit more rain is coming here. We got a bit over an inch, and it came down gently so that it was absorbed. I'll take that 49, Lucky!!! Woot hoot!!! Send it on! I had turned the A/C off, but last night before I went out, I closed all the windows and ran it down to 76 since it was about 79 in here. The humidity was about Swamp Level, though. Like a jungle! Nice & dry today. That's one of the big things about the South - the humidity will rot you and everything in your life if you don't run the A/C when it gets this sticky. Is the morale improving around here yet?

I took my girls to the Gymboree "classes" too, but I'm pretty sure the clothes stores were already open when I did. I fell in love with their clothes, but the cheapskate in me couldn't come to terms with paying their high prices. I found out they gave a 40% employee discount, so I started working there. I spent almost every penny I earned on their clothes, even after I became a manager. See my page for frequently used eBay discussion board acronyms.

The occupy movement is a year old? Seems longer than that.
Lemme see what else is new... not much. Still sewing like a mad woman.
WAVES HI to Tonee and everyone else, too.
Anyone else watch the premiere of Revolution last night? What a dud. Nothing new, nothing original...heaven forbid they came up with something that wasn't borrowed.
And that's about all I have for the moment.

Monday nights are for watching football. I watched my Falcons beat the Broncos. Peyton Manning threw three, count 'em, three interceptions in the FIRST quarter.

I looked at the Gymboree website after typing that post. Their clothes aren't nearly as cute now, and they don't look as well made, either. That stinks.
Unfortunately, Ellen has retired Classic Joke Monday. Never fear though, as she has a new segment called Classic Joke Tuesday.

She made this huge deal yesterday out of the major decision retiring Classic Joke Monday was, and how much she was going to miss it, but she had to keep things fresh and come up with new segments. Then she announced Classic Joke Tuesday. So, she changed it just to be silly. See my page for frequently used eBay discussion board acronyms.

Hi (((All)))
I’m thinkin’ I don’t have as much stamina as I used to. I am so tired and dirty from working at mom’s again.
The good news is that I have looked up (on Ebay) a few items that didn’t sell at the estate sale. They are selling here – and for quite a bit more than we had priced at the sale. One prayer book we tried to sell for $2.00 is selling for $45.00 on Ebay! So it looks like the Salvation Army isn’t going to get a couple of items we were thinking to give them.
The metal guys will be combing the neighborhood tomorrow and I’m going to have to grab them again to haul more metal junk away. And I’m hoping they are going to know a couple of guys looking for some cash to help me carry the heavier stuff from the basement to the dumpster when the time comes.
Burns - I liked the earrings and the jeans bag a lot!
Adrienne & Vicki – hope your weather isn’t too severe.
Lucky – loved the joke. And lucky you going to the races again this weekend. Still waiting for pics of your hot guy in his hot car. *taps foot*
Regarding cell phones - did you know that mobile phones are the only subject on which men boast about who's got the smallest?
