Good morning...
This heat has to move over and let some rain in for at least a week!
We can't go out early cause of the mosquitos then it's too hot during the day and mosquitos again in the evening.. ugh.
so we need to time it just right to do things outside..
My pumpkin vines are suffering! Parts of them are dieing out.
and they look so sad during the day. but late at night or early morning they look so happy.. I'm trying to keep them going. being the first time we get them to grow this long.. really would like to see some pumkins grow out of it. so far nada.. they do flower but no pumkins starting.
now my little tomatoe plant has givin us what,, 3 or 4 tiny tomatoes
so that was nice.. wonderful to look at and such.. a good thing for David to see how things grow..
well , better move it.. suns rising higher and higher and already
in my window telling me to move it!!! lol
you guys have a great day.. take care.

Hey Gardeners!
Mimi, pumpkins take a while. Hope yours can stand the heat.
Sometiems you've just got to get out the hose and water stuff yourself or it'll dry up.
That would be a good job for David.
Glad you got to enjoy some home grown tomatoes. They taste so much better than from the store.
Ffuts, I dug and dug for that garlic. It's trying to go to seed, so it's harder to find. Can't just pull it up now like I would've been able to do sooner. Stem just comes loose.
Husband and Son have pulled up the squash. It was starting to dye anyway. Don't know what he's planning on planting next. Probably some greens.
Last night we got a little rain. I looked at the side of the house and on a panel was a line of 3 butterflies. It was dry where they were at and I guess they decided to spend the night there.
Well, got to hurry up and move along so I can get stuff up for Church.\
Have a pretty Sunday!

Hey Gardeners!
Son took this picture with my camera this afternoon. Been raining a lot today and everything is soggy outside, Been doing like that all week, so I guess this little fella decided he better get out and get some food while he could.
Son said , "Mama, this butterfly is huge." When I looked at the one with him in between the ladder rungs it looks liike he is kinda big.lol
Hope everyone is having a nice afternoon and managing to stay dry or cool.
Have a pretty afternoon!

Hey Gardeners!
Lol, Ffuts! Sounds like early morning coffee on the porch for you for a few days.
Well, we are just dragging on the garden. Letting the peppers and okra play out. It is so hot out there everything is drooping.
Yes, Mimi, that's one of those tomato worms. Will eat a plant up.
Lol, David's gonna have a mess. Put it in a jar and put a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol on it in there with it and close the lid shut and it'll die faster and won't be squirming when he decides to dissect. That's what we did in Science class if I remember right.
O.k. got to move along.
Have a nice Saturday!

Hello Cathy and Gardeners,,,,
Mimi,, maybe your son will get into agricultural research with his curiousity...LOL That is a good thing.
I went out and picked two Okra and a small yellow banana papper and a medium size mild banana green peppers. I didn't know I had Okra planted out there, guess I forgot one. I will put the two Okra in pickle juice and share with Cynthia my main caregiver, we like em pickled.
Not much produce this year out there,, Get a small pepper now and then, have some anehimes and jalapenos yet.. any I pick are appreciated LOL
I did find I have a small cherry tomato coming on after all the heat burned up most things.
I don't know if I will be able to plant much next spring,, really slowed down any more. I cut back on inside porch plants already, just unable to care for them. I doubt I will bring any of the pepper plants in this year as I always did the last few years.
I have planted some cabbage and brussel sprouts earlier this year, they didn't really make, but I did find out you can cut leaves and use them,, they taste like cabbage so a person could even make cole slaw out of them, Or,, cabbage roles.

Hey Gardeners!
Ffuts, I'm sorry that you didn't get much out of your garden this year.
I've pretty much neglected ours this year. It's been mainly Husband doing all the work and Son helps him pull up stuff to clear out room. Well, I did get out there and h elp him cut some okra a time or two.
What with all this stuff with Mama, I'm just tired all t he time seems like. The monitor is a good thing, but she talks all night long, so I don't get much sleep.lol
Well, got to move along.
Have a pretty day!

Hello fellow gardeners. My garden is still holding on. I do mostly container gardening for my veggies. My flower beds change time to time, but are pretty much set where they're at. And then there's my nature trail Great on a hot summer's day - much cooler.
We've had some regular size tomatoes, as well as 2 different types of cherry tomatoes. Then there's the weird peppers. They're supposed to be hot peppers but they're not. And the small hot chilli peppers that are hot, and the yellow peppers that are hottest of all, but weren't supposed to be.
Have a great holiday. Just a note... I've been receiving "friends" invites recently. I've turned them all down. To those folks I say thank you, but at this time I don't think it would be in my best interest, nor theirs.

Hey Gardeners!
That's the way it turns out sometimes with those banana peppers, ipick. They've got a hot variety and a sweet one and sometimes I think the plant place gets them mixed up.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend with cooler temps. We're supposed to have Fall type temperatures sometime this weekend and wake up to around 65 Monday morning. That will be a nice change.
Have a pretty day!

Hello "ipick", Cathy and all my otherj gardening friends,,,
I don't get back over here often enough,, been playing way to much on Facebook,,, More poker and "Words" than any thing else... Please forgive me for not keeping up here.
Cathy, got a few small sweet banana peppers and picked about 4 peppers today and not sure what they are, I hope they are thes Jalapeno,,, but they may be Annehim...I am happy to get anything I can now...LOL I doubt I will be doing so much next spring, not able to take care of it all,,, I don't think I will able to plant anything out in yard in the tire garden,, happens to me all the time,, get something going and then unable to use it, it happened with my gardens out back and was unable to do anything with them all this year or last. I may just try to plant a few peppers and such up on deck next spring. I am just glad I can still do that much and thank God daily for that.
I don't get to do much cooking at all any more, caregivers been doing most of that now for me,, I eat pretty good now,, they have me spoiled...
Hope life you going well down your way Cathy,,, miss visiting with you folks.

Hey Gardeners!
Ffuts, I'm glad somebody's coming over and cooking for you.
Been wondering were you under the weather.
Glad you got some peppers. I know how you love them.
Haven't been doing hardly anything in the yard since this with Mama.
Husband planted some greens a few days ago and they haven't come up yet, but they will. Always do.
Got to hurry along. Been making a few things and selling them on here.
Have fun on facebook!

Hi Cathy,, hope your sales are going well.
Its that time of year to bring in plants, caregiver has been bringing some in this week, should probably get the one in that are coming in tomorrow. Could get frost tomorrow night. I have to cut way back on a lot of plants, unable to care for them any more. Since my last bit of progression on this disease it has really put a cramp in my style. Rely on caregiver much more now.
Went into Hospice at my request starting this week, doesn't mean I plan on kicking the bucket this year,, but I do have all the requirements for Hospice. I plan to outlive this first year for starters, LOL I went into it for some extra benefits I get. Was a hard decision.
Have a great weekend and I hope all your gardens are growing well. ...

Hello Cathy, Ffuts and fellow gardeners. Hope life is treating you well and that your gardens are enjoying some cooler weather.
My garden has about had it, but I do have 2 chilli pepper plants that are still putting out and are the perfect colors for the Fall weather. It's staying in the mid to high 80s most days and dropping into the mid 60s at night. Love it!
My flower garden is still doing good, lots of pink roses, purple mexican petunias and a red with purple dots plant that we call a Mickey Mouse. The red looks like the ears and the purple dot looks like a nose. It also looks like a bee to some folks. All I know is that the hummingbirds love all of them. So do the butterflies. I'm all about color and scent in my flower bed.
Haven't decided if I'll start a Fall/Winter garden. Don't really feel up to it this year.
Ffuts, take it one day at a time and at your own speed.
Cathy, don't forget to take some time to rest and recharge.

Just a note... I've been receiving "friends" invites recently. I've turned them all down. To those folks I say thank you, but at this time I don't think it would be in my best interest, nor theirs.

Hey Gardners!
Ipick, sounds like your temps. are about like mine here, except this week the mornings have been in the 50's. Gets up to the 80's during the day.
Husband planted some greens a little while back and they are coming up pretty good.
Ffuts, I was sorry to read that the copd has gotten worse. I hope your caregiver is good company and a lot of help.
Mama is still doing o.k. All her vital signs are regular and holding, catheter is doing great, still doing o.k. with the peg tube--no weight loss, so I guess things are as good as you can expect for her situation.
I did manage to get a nice nap yesterday in between her feedings and laundry.lol
Hope everyone has a nice day and you manage to have some time on the porch, Harvey.
Have a pretty day!
