Suggestions for shipping single cards.

I have sold cards on and off. I've decided to start selling again, but I've noticed that shipping prices have gone up. I use to ship single cards in a #000 padded envelope and charge $2.49 for shipping, and that would usually cover the shipping cost and cost of the envelope. But now that its more expensive I'm considering shipping single cards in a regular greeting card sized envelope not only to lower shipping costs, but to get people more interested in my listings because of lower shipping costs. Keep in mind that I ship all of my single cards in a penny sleeve and a top loader. I don't really see the need to ship a flat card in a top loader in a padded envelope, when I can just use a regular greeting card sized envelope. The padding isn't going to do anything. Does anyone ship single cards in regular greeting card envelops? If so, have you had any problems? suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

So far, I have been charging $2.50 for the first card and no additional for additional ungraded cards.  I sell mostly graded cards, but the ungradeds still go in a sleeve, semi-rigid holder and in between 2 pieces of cardboard.  Then they go in a 000 and then in a 00.  I state in all my ads that the shipping charge is slightly more than actual postage, and the quantity discounts.

A dealer who sells non-sports cards said he ships in a regular us mail letter envelope on sales of cards under $5.  I have been reluctant to do that, but a greeting card envelope with some card-stock paper is, I think, a good idea!

Hope this helps.

No matter what, IMO, the only way to ship cards is in a bubble mailer. Much safer for the card, and much lower chance of post office losing your package. A single card in a bubble mailer, with card in top loader, even with 2 cardboard pieces, and DC is still in that $2.50 range, and that even accounts for the tape and envelope cost.

I will not buy from some who ships or ship in a PWE. Bubble envelope with del. confirmation only.

Too many cards damaged by poor packing (sleeved in toploader but no tape, sleeve only, etc...).

Also no delivery confirmation to have proof of delivery for all the eBay crooked buyers as they will file an "Item Not Recieved" claim against you and Paypal will take your money and send it back to them. Now they have a FREE card and their $$$ back because you can't give them a negative feedbcak as a scammer.

At $2.49 shipping you will not lose money as 3oz weight in bubble mailers with eBay/Paypal online shipping is only $1.64. After the cost of the bubble mailer, ink, label, and eBay/Paypal fees etc...you should break even. I ship as many items as won for $2.50 (or free) to encourage people to buy more items.

sports cards or not, you should read the many similar discussions in the Sports group.. over the long haul, you'll get a lot of angry buyers when you use PWEs..
