I hope this is the proper area to ask about these as I didn't see where else they might fit best. I have what appears to be 3 very old photographs that are each mounted on a heavy cardstock. These come from with my extended family but anyone having any knowledge on them have passed so here I sit without any idea as to possible age except I'm thinking pre-1900 for all three. The first I'll call Old Lady. The card says Stollmack & Goldstein. On the back of this is our grandmothers mothers mother. If, and a big if, this was wrote by my mother in law, that would put it six or maybe seven generations ago.

The next I'll call Young Lady. This is mounted on a studio card from Newman Photographic Art Studio, No. 13 Avenue A, New York. It's wrote that this is an Aunt somewhere down the line.

The final photo I'll call Family. Showing a family unit and also from Newman Studio but the style of card looks to be different. The written info on the back makes me tend to think this is the latest from maybe around 1900 to 1910 but I really have no idea.

All three are 4.5" wide and 6.5" high or near to it. Their condition isn't perfect and there is some grim so I don't even know if anyone would want them so it's not decided to list them or not but even knowing their age or type would be worth knowing. Thanks in advance for any advice or help.

I believe all 3 could be dated to the brake of the 20C.
The old lady is a bit harder to date as people of her age more than often didn't follow current fashions too closely and wore outdated clothing..The cap she is waring looks like a mourning cap..and perhaps this picture could be dated to a bit earlier..

There's an excellent resource here regarding dating UK phoptographs, I'm uncertain as to how much the information is relevant to US photos but I would imagine that it would be of some help

http://www.cartes.freeuk.com/time/time.htm

From perusing the site, if you can apply UK to US styles I would conclude that the top photo is very early, say 1860-70 and the second 2 are a bit later

the page has an excellent link where you can look at women's clothing year by year and compare the styles to your photos, definitely worth a peek!

Good luck! :)
