eBay Workshop: Boost Traffic to Your eBay Store with Use Email Marketing

Nov 20, 2006 2:39 PM
Hi all! Much of this is currently over my head as I'm planning to open an eBaby store. No time like the present with the holidays I realize...perhaps a boost as eBay says!? I'm trying to soak up as much info as possible so I find success on my way and to hopefully miss some of the potholes along the way. I plan to review this thread again and go to the various links provided for further ideas, help, etc. In the meantime...

If I'm allowed to ask...is there any special new store advice/thoughts regarding email marketing with newsletters, etc? Potential pitfalls to watch out for or to avoid?

I agree with Bill. I would also like to see "Sign up for my newsletter" as being the first option rather than "Add me to your favorite store," as the first option. When you all go back to review next year.

Hi schuederzpaintballz,
The link to sign up for your newsletter will appear in your Store Header. You can add the link to sign up for the newsletter within your listing itself by using the Stores HTML Builder.

You can also ask your buyers to sign up for the newsletter in your other transactional emails that you send out.

I just wish there was a way to have the link to sign up for newsletters more visible and to have a way to include that link in the emails we send out... the more people that we can get to sign up for our newsletters, the more buyers we will have and the more profit for eBay in the end.

Dear laplaya29 (post 41)

I want to clarify that Mike is looking into your issue about placing the HTML into the email communications.
You should still take advantage of this great tool.

Your shoppers can still sign up via:

On your About Me Page

All View Item pages

Seller Profile Page

You can also encourage buyers to opt-in to your mailings by promoting your newsletters in all communication with buyers.

Thanks, Arty

Me third, I think the newsletter option should come be for add to favorite sellers. And, I guess I'm going to have to be really conscious of asking buyers to sign up for newletters. I will definitely have to come back and read through all this again.

Your right Mike, you can ask them to sign up in your emails, but thats a lot of extra steps for the recepient of the email. They have to back track several stages to get back to a page within my listings where they can sign up, if they can even find the link to sign up, its not quite as visible as I think it should be.

Mike will you be able to let me and the others know if we can add that link to sign up into our emails sent from My Ebay. I would like to be able to start doing that and not receive the No HTML ALLOWED message although I am not sure how your going to set that up, because there will be others who want to add a whole lot more html which would probably violate every ebay rule. Thats why I think its better for a link to already be provided by ebay and not have us entering html into the text of the email.

Dear 2424336 (post 46)

I am glad to hear that you have recently opened an eBay Store.
We recently made enhancements to the Email Marketing tool that makes it easier than ever to use.
Please go to the recent announcement for full details: Link

In summary, What’s New!:

• Quick and easy 3-step process to create professional email marketing campaigns

• Schedule Recurring Mailings

• Increase in Email limits

I encourage you to take advantage of the new "Welcome Email" that will be automatically sent to any buyer who signs up for your newsletter. This is a great way to introduce them to your Store, brand and inventory.

Good luck this holiday season!
Regards, Arty

You are welcome Mike,Art,and Abbygail.

There is one thing for such that as a internet marketer/ebay seller via ebay or whatever mode one uses, one has to promote themselves on the internet to be seen by millions. It is imperative that one keeps the goals that are set for your sales up front in your mind. There are many ways to promo your store and it does require work and time. But anything worth while is just that and the rewards can be limitless. Listening and keeping in touch with your customers is crucial in maintaining a visible place on the internet.

Thanks
