eBay Workshop: Combined Payments - Wednesday, October 8th

Oct 8, 2003 2:00 PM
Hello everyone,

Thanks for joining us for the Combined Payments Workshop! I am part of the team that worked on the Combined Payments feature. During this session, we are going to cover the following:

1) What Combined Payments is.

2) How Combined Payments can benefit buyers and sellers.

3) Answer any questions you might have.

We will be happy to take suggestions - as we’re always looking for ways to improve our features -- many of the best ideas come directly from eBay buyers and sellers.

With that introduction, let’s talk about what Combined Payments is.

Hi mike90810,

The system automatically prefills the invoices with payment details from the item you clicked "Send Invoice" on. You have the option to adjust the shipping and insurance amount. Are you getting the wrong total on the email itself or on the Send Invoice form?

Hi flapr,

It seems like you are selling mostly post cards. If you specify the shipping cost for all your items to be $1.00. You can choose the 2nd radio button for "Charge my highest shipping cost and free shipping for each additional item". The buyer will then be changed $1.00 for shipping for all their purchases. Would that work for your items?

Many times a buyer wins 3 or 5 or 10 or more postcards. I would like to be able to charge $1 for 1 to 3 cards, $1.20 for 4 to 8 cards, etc. Is that possible? And what about rates for Foreign buyers. I sell many cards to Canada, Europe etc.

I can not calculate the proper total on my screen when trying to send an eBay invoice. The first one I did send one and it was $1.50 short didn't send an ebay invoice for my second combined sale and the customer checked out fine with the proper total. The math I saw for this checkout on my screen was not possible no matter how I tried to recalculate it.

Hi flapr,

Unfortunately, the shipping discount system doesn't currently support the type of discounts you described. The shipping discounts also will not apply for international buyers. There is the option for you to send a combined invoice manually for international buyers. I will take your feedback back to the rest of the team for their consideration.

Hi mike90810,

When a buyer clicks on Pay Now, the system automatically calculates the combined shipping cost based on the shipping discounts you specified. When you send an manual invoice, the system automatically prefills the invoices with payment details from the item you clicked "Send Invoice" on. It does not automatically calculate the combined shipping cost using the discounts you specified. You will need to manually enter the combined shipping cost when sending a manual invoice.

Hi flapr,

Please make sure you have selected the third radio button for the combine purchase option ("Yes, allow buyers to combine items purchased within x days and send a single payment. I will specify discounts below:"). If you have selected the 2nd radio button, it will not save the insurance amount you specified.
