I'm still waiting for someone from ebug to explain to me why my show/hide parameters are being auto-changed by ebug when I try to do a revise or a relist. I've produced auction numbers of items that it's happened to, I've provided screen shots of what my original saved parameters were and what auto-changes ebug made on them. I've reported this through customer service, I've reported it through function not working, I've sent emails to Griff, mikem, Miyuki, Nate, and probably a couple more. Mikem was going to call me and talk to me about it and that never materialized. This has been going on since early December. Why can't I get an answer as to WHY this is happening??

1. How to add a second category to my listing Did you know that you can add a second relevant category to your listing, so that your listing is exposed to more potential buyers in searches? Here’s how to do it in the new listing form. If you are finding your first category by browsing, click on the Add a second category link highlighted in the following screen Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting The Add a second category link grays out on the bottom. Now you can go ahead and select another category inside the Browse for categories screen Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting I’ve selected the second category and am ready to move on. Double-check the two categories underneath “Categories you have selected” to make sure those are what you want Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Hello.

Could you please tell me how to use HTML on the new form. I've tried repeatedly and I cannot get the new form to accept any HTML code so I've been listing on the old form where there's no problem with HTML.

you are starting off by doing a search for categories, go to the “Search for categories” tab, enter your keyword first, and click on search. You will see a list of categories like the following screen Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting You can then select two categories by checking any two categories you would like. You can select two categories even if they don’t show up in a single search. For example, say that I have a digital camera and a flash card that I would like to list together in two categories. First, I search for “camera” and the following comes up in the search results Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Then I select the first category for the digital camera. The bottom of the screen shows that I have the first category selected Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting For the second category, I enter “flash card” in the search box and click on the search button Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Then I select my second category for the flash card Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

2. Adding a Gallery picture to my listing Using a good gallery picture in your listing is very important. It draws more attention to your item in the search results, and thereby increases your chances of selling. Our statistics show that items with Gallery pictures can sell for 14% more than those without. After picking a category for your item, you will be taken to the Sell: Create Your Listing page. Go to the Pictures section under the Describe your item section, and add several pictures first. For instructions on how to add your pictures, please see the last workshop. You will see your picture section look something like this: Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Check the Gallery Picture option Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting If you are happy with the first picture selected, then you are done. Otherwise, click on the Change Picture button Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Then click on the picture you want to be displayed when your item shows up in the search result Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

3. How to customize my selling form Did you know that you can actually customize your selling form in the new listing flow? You can shorten the Create Your Listing page to include only the options that are required and the options you need. There are multiple ways to do this: - On the top of the Create Your Listing page, click on the Show/Hide Options link or the icon to the right. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting It should bring up the following popup window Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting For example, if you would like to use Visitor counter, you can check the Visitor counter option inside the Item Details area, and click on save. Visitor counter will appear on your form after that. - In each section of the page you would like to customize, you can click on the circle with a bubble in it. If you never use Return Policy, and would like to remove it from your form, you can click on the circle with a bubble right next to the Additional Information heading. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting It will take you to the popup window with the Additional section already displayed: Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Then just uncheck the Return Policy item and click on Save. Your screen will refresh and Return Policy will be removed from your page.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to send out a quick note to let everyone know that Mikem won't be joining us for the workshop today. While he would love to be here to answer all your questions, he's at home taking care of his new baby girl! She was born last week and Mike is taking some well-deserved time off to be at home. Miyuki and I will do our best to fill his (big) shoes.

Cheers!

Hi dewskis_dewings,

I apologize for the mixup on the call from Mikem, but I believe he was scheduled to call you on the day his daughter was born (see my earlier post.) The timing wasn't exactly expected so a few things did slip through the cracks. Please accept my apologies.

For your show/hide options, note that in the Relist and Revise use cases, the SYI 3 form will use the options that you had configured when you originally listed the item. So, if you follow these steps:

Step 1. List an item "A" with show/hide options "A"

Step 2. List another item "B" and change to show/hide options "B"

Step 3. Relist an item from the original "A" - here you'll get the show/hide options that came with item "A"

Step 4. Revise item "A" - here you'll get the show/hide options that you used to list item "A"

If these aren't the use cases you're seeing (and I haven't received your emails, though I know Mikem did) I would like to follow up further. If, however, this is what you're experiencing then the system is working as designed.

One final note - if you went through steps 1-4 above, and then listed a brand new item as step 5, your show/hide options would be from item "B", which was the last new item you listed with the form.

Hope that helps,
Nate

Hi goldisgolden,

You are right that the new form is a little less forgiving to HTML code than the original form. There are a few issues we are currently trying to work through. Could you give us some specifics on what didn’t work for you? A piece of HTML code would be really helpful as well as your browser and Operating System information.

Thanks,
-Miyuki

Hi dewskis_dewings,

I realized I could have added one additional piece of information to the post above: our rationale for why we designed the system this way.

What we've found is that typically most sellers associate options that they use on their listings with specific items, rather than using one global set. We have templates that help with some of this, but particularly for things like Format, etc., we find that it is best to tie the settings to the original item rather than a global preference.

For example, if you typically list a certain line of products in Ad Format, but you clean out your garage and decide to list some Auctions, you wouldn't want the Revise or Relist flow to flip those item to Ad Format...

I'm interested in your opinion on this, though, as it appears this may not be working the way you would have designed it. What do you think?

Thanks,
Nate

No no no no....that is EXACTLY my problem. I have parameters A, B, C, D, E set in my listing.

It does not sell.

I click relist and I do not want to change anything, just relist.

I preview to make sure everything's the same. I'm suddenly taking cashier's checks and personal checks. I click on edit and then show/hide. Now all my A, B, C, D, E parameters are changed to A, B, F, G, H, I, J.

It is NOT pulling up the parameters originally set in the original listing.

I have a new monitor as a result of the last time I tried to relist. I can't afford all the wasted time to reset my parameters and I can't afford a new monitor when I get so frustrated that it simply will NOT pull up the original parameters.

Hello. Any HTML code that I've tried will not work. Examples are: (I've not posted the actual info as this is a public board.

--------- ---------- ------------ In general, it won't accept any HTML. There's many more examples I can give you if you are interested. The first one is most important to my listings as all my photos are self hosted and the new form will not accept any of them.
