Description: Our current version of the Sell Your Item form is great for experienced sellers. However, it can be a little complicated for our newer sellers who aren't as familiar with all the options and choices available – and sometimes even experienced sellers just need the basics. To help these sellers out, very soon - if you want to - you'll be able to list with a simplified listing form, needing only to fill in a small number of required fields. We pre-fill many of the options for you (such as setting your auction starting price at $0.99), but if you don't like the way we fill in the blanks, you can easily change them. Please join the seller experience product management team and get your questions answered, and maybe take home – or offer –a tip or two.

Welcome to this workshop!

We will take you through a quick overview of the new simplified listing flow that went live a few days ago. The flow enables you to "list with popular options".

It is a shortened, colorful listing flow with only the most common listing options available. This will dramatically cut down on the number of choices a seller has to make to get their item listed.

Several of the fields pre-filled, but editable. For example, all listings will have a pre-filled $0.99 starting price, although the seller can of course change that if they wish.

When a seller starts at the Sell hub, they'll soon have a choice of whether to go through this simplified listing process, which consists mainly of our most popular listing options, or the current flow that we recommend for more experienced sellers. For now, only 50% of sellers will see this choice.

Now, let’s look into each of the flow’s sections.

Title

Your title is very important; it is the first thing a buyer will see. So take time to write it, use the 55 characters you have and be descriptive. Once you have entered your title, simply click on “Find a category”, eBay will then use your title to do a category search and suggest you some categories.



Tip: under the title field, there is a character countdown which makes it very easy to know how many characters you have left.

Category selection

Select a category in which your item will be listed.



Tip: if the categories that are suggested don’t quite fit your item, you can browse categories to find the one that best describes your item. Click on the “Browse categories” label.

Note:
For some categories like “Music > CDs”, eBay can automatically include information about your item like a photo, the track listing or some notes on the album. If the category you selected has this option, you will be able to do a product search to find your item in the catalog database and add the catalog information to your listing.

Photos

Photos are what bring your item to life. It is also, as the title, the first thing a buyer will see. The first photo is free, so make sure you add at least one :) You will notice we pre-selected the Gallery picture option for you. It’s a very popular option, and will help your listing catch the attention of buyers in search results. And the good thing is that there are no insertion fees if you buy Gallery and have a start price of $9.99 or less. Learn more.



Tip: if you download several photos, make sure your first photo is the best one. It is the photo that buyers will see in search results (if you have selected the Gallery option).

Help buyers find what they're looking for by providing detailed, easy- to- read information. You can use the rich text editor options to enhance your description.



Tip: add as much information as possible, and be personal about your item. It will make your listing more vibrant.

Price & shipping details

The auction format is the most popular format and for sure the most exciting one for both the seller and the buyers. The start price is pre filled to $0.99. Once again, this will help you catch the attention of buyers.

The shipping destination is pre filled to United States. You can pick a service and enter the total cost (including handling cost) for the buyer. If you wish to add more shipping options for the buyer, you can. Click on “Add other shipping destinations or services”. You also have access to the Shipping calculator to help you calculate the shipping cost.



Tip: propose 2 shipping options to your buyers, 1 standard and 1 fast delivery.

PayPal is the easiest and safest way to buy things on eBay, so offering it as a payment option will help you attract more buyers. All you need is an email address!

Fees

At the bottom of the page, you can check what will be the fee to insert your listing before going to the Review and submit page. This can be quite handy.

The Sell Your Item flow

You will also notice a link that enables you to switch to the Sell Your Item flow. This link can be useful if you finally wished to view all listing options. If you click this link, all the information you entered will be moved over to the Sell Your Item flow.

I have a quick question. This reminds me of the 1040EZ form that is quick and to the point. But if you have more details, you can then switch back to the previous SYI version is this correct?

yes, you are correct. By clicking on the link at the bottom of the page, you can go to SYI and all the information you entered in this simplified form will be taken to SYI.
