Will both you Griff and Brian be at eBay Live? I had signed up and paid the conference fee before you basicly killed my sales on eBay. I might as well still go if we can sit down and actually discuss things.

Am I the only one who sees what's happening on this conference?

They tell us how to make money with tiny little classifieds, and we tell them how their motives cannot possibly match their actions.

Meanwhile, I still have my notepad out... Don Lapre, calling Don Lapre...

etickets. Got it.

When I spoke to power seller support, over a week after the new DDG policy went into place, I was told that eBay was "working" on putting together a team to inforce the policy. Why make such a rash decision when you are not even able to enforce it?

Mr Burke, you need to change that page on DD rules. Here is what it says and it is not the reason you told us: Why does eBay have this policy? This policy helps protect buyers from purchasing unauthorized or counterfeit merchandise, and helps intellectual property rights owners protect their rights I think you just said this was to prevent "feedback manipulation" Based on the ebay chat boards, that page leaves a lot of questions people are asking unanswered.

There are 23 minutes left in this workshop and we have been given very few answers to the questions that have been asked. What was the purpose of this workshop?

All good questions. Would be nice if someone answered them.

I get the feeling this room has "digital" pitch forks and torches handy.

auctionfreakkauctionfreakk,

Services continue to be permitted even if there is a component of the service that includes digital deliver.

Do not confuse this with, customization of a design template.

You can offer customization of an item and ship it on a CD. If you offer the option of digital delivery it will be in violation.

Report violations via the banned items for now.

Thanks.

Brian

In addition, why give us all less than a weeks notice? All the legitimate people could hardly get CD's manufactured and be selling with no notice. Have you ever worked with a replication place to get art work designed, approved, and CD's made. Takes a bit more than a week...

If someone sells a junky digital product then they'll get negative feedback, so the system works.

A transaction is a transaction no matter what the price or whether the product is shipped, digitally delivered, or picked up in person.

Why not make ALL items below a certain dollar amount feedback neutral. Then people can't try to "manipulate feedback" using stamps, postcards, digital products, etc..

Am I the only one who sees what's happening on this conference? Is there's something happening I must of missed it. Thus far it's the same ole run around. Only point I see of Class Ads is Ebay wanys us to pay to advertise for them. They want us to draw people in from search engines, then present them with an undesirable looking class ad in hopes they move on and buy something from someone else. Someone who will profit tem 8.75%.

It's TERRIBLE that the shipping cost is listed as "not specified" -- I've always been suspect of sellers who do not specify their shipping costs! Not to mention that the total cost of the item is not calculated properly and so when the search results are sorted by "lowest price" the classified ad is out of order! And since they are 30 days in duration, they are listed at the end of the results when sorting by "ending soonest." Aren't "lowest price" and "ending soonest" by far the most common methods of sorting search results?? Also, some classified ads still show "digital delivery" as their shipping costs -- which I was told by eBay Help that was a glitch! -- making THEIR classified ad appear higher in the search results! Mark my words: eBay's new Digital Download policy is one of the worst changes in the history of e-commerce! My only question is how long until eBay comes to its senses?!?

Brian - I think most of us truly appreciate the difficulty of the position you are in. I spoke in person with your predecessor at eBay live last year about the outstanding issues ebay has with classified ads. I was assured that it was being addressed. It never was.

I guess my advice to you going forward is this...

Consult with those of us that love and respect the marketplace that is eBay just as much as you do...probably more than you do because we aren't getting any job promotions or retirement packages out here. We just love selling online and being able to support our families with eBay. Let us help you think through things like this before leaping. Explain the issue, take suggestions, propose solutions and THEN implement change. We'll have so much more ownership and you'll have some great ideas to work with.

The purpose was to heard us into a corral and lock the gate. This work shop is almost over and all we have been given is links to policies we dont understand. I have always been a good little Ebayer, followed the rules and followed all policies on my designs, now I feel like I have been kicked in the can for being a good little girl.

Brian,

As you stated in post 81. Report violations via banned items for now. What good will that do?

What about the items that have just removed how the item is delivered and still send it out digitally?

Are you going to write all those sellers from an private account and ask how they are delivery their "free shipping" item?

So that's it, huh?

Just post a classified ad and leave it at that? Or, sell your graphic design on CD, do your mock ups, ship them, and wait a week before the modifications can be done, then repeat.

Can web hosting be purchased via CD??

Just wondering.
