Good afternoon everyone,

As many of you have already noted, the new Stores logo and pages have been rolling out this week. The “red tag” logo is being replaced with the new, “red door” logo across the site. You may still be seeing several instances of the red tag in places as we make complete this transition.

In early May, we announced that this change would be taking place. Based on the evolution of the Stores product over the past four years and on feedback that we received about the red tag logo, we made the decision to re-brand. I say re-brand, because this is more than just a logo change. It is our goal to market the newly branded eBay Stores to all buyers and sellers.

Many of you have voiced concerns on the discussion boards so we wanted to spend this hour answering your questions.

When the first posting was presented on the Stores Board in May, there was quite a rush of comments about the logo - most very negative. Why where these concepts never addressed?

The logo you are showing on the proposed thread appears to be different then what actually rolled out.

When you rolled out the tag logo it was after intensive market surveys and studies. Gee, what changed?

i think it looks like greeting cards or a "red exit door". i hope ebay HEAVILY promotes thenew icon in various media to establish the connection between the new logo and "stores." in this case, i'd be in favor of one of those mass emailings. or maybe a blurb in every promo email so people start equating the logo ASAP with stores.

When you announced in early May, it was quite clear that a majority of the store owners thought the new logo was horrible...any reason you plowed through with no consideration for the people it will mostr affect?

We want to make sure everyone is aware of the changes and how it has affected your listings, your storefront, and other places where eBay Stores are identified on the site.

As you probably know, we announced this change over six weeks ago, and have been answering questions about it ever since on the boards and during brown bag lunch discussions. At this time we're just following up on that to collect feedback and understand any issues that might have come up.

I just don't understand why our feelings about changes are never taken into consideration. I don't know a single store owner who replied to the new icon feedback positively. Yet, Ebay still went ahead with what they wanted.

sorry - why were these CONCERNS never addressed?

What is your response to some comments that the logo is very difficult to discern, and that many people associate it with the computer program symbol for closing out of, or leaving a program?

I have to agree, I would not know that icon meant the Ebayer had a store unless I scrolled over the icon with a mouse for the text indicating there's a store. I do not believe the icon is indicative of a store. I don't care for it.

We do have plans to aggressively promote the new logo to buyers and sellers. The logo launch is the first part of an overall rebrand campaign that you will begin seeing starting next month.
