STEP NINE - Review your transactions and make a tax planning appointment with your tax advisor

When you have completed the process above, you need to take time to review your income and expenses. If you are using a manual process, seeing your net income might not be a simple click of the button. However, with a tool like KeepMore.net, you simply click on Generate Reports and select the Income and Expense Report, click Generate Report and you have all the information posted and sorted for you.

We make it easy for you to review each income and expense category. Simply click on the drill down icon (the little blue button for each line item) and review what you have posted in each Category. Now you can be sure that you have for each applicable month an eBay invoice, a cell phone charge, etc. You can also see if you have posted all your expenses in the correct category.

If you are using some other tool or manual method, follow a process of review that will allow you to determine if you have thought of all allowable deductions.

When you have finished this review process, it is time for you to make an appointment with your tax advisor to do some tax planning in December - not in 2008 when it is too late.

It is important that now that you are caught up, you continue to set aside time everyday (or at least weekly) through the end of the year to keep your records current through December 31st. Remember your goal was have more time available to generate more income through your eBay sales and to be stress free during the holiday season. Don't let yourself get behind, keep your records current.

STEP TEN - Now its time to reward yourself

Step Ten is without a doubt the easiest and most rewarding part of this Ten Step Process. When you have completed this process you have more time available to generate more income, you have your tax records recorded and should save money on your tax return fees, and you can do your tax planning in 2007 to save even more dollars. Now, take the time and money to reward yourself for a job well done. You deserve it!

Now that you have gone through this process for 2007, you know you do not want to do it again in 2008. Get your KeepMore.net account today to help you record your 2007 business transactions. Activate the eBay import feature and starting January 1, 2008 keep your business transactions posted on a current basis. Remember, we give you peace of mind by backing up all your transactions, we provide training and customer support; and, most importantly you know the success of your business every day, not just in last month of the year or when the tax return is completed.

Then join me for the December workshop titled, Thinking about your 2007 income taxes? If not, you should be! This workshop will discuss why you need to do your 2007 tax planning in December not after the end of the year.

I've noticed that eBay just recently speaks of a direct (automatic?) feed into Quickbooks. Can you spend some time comparing and contrasting these two approaches for us.

KeepMore.net has an automatice import of all eBay transactons. Once activated, we import your transactions multiple times daily. You can then process the information very quickly and easily into the financial side of our program. Then, at the end of the year, you can generate the reports you will need to file your business tax return.

Hi bargain-shopping-at-east-lodge:

eBay Accounting Assistant is an easy-to-use software program that helps you import your eBay and PayPal data from eBay, and export it directly into your QuickBooks company file. This reduces data-entry time and minimizes transcription errors.

eBay Accounting Assistant is free to download and use, but the associated eBay user must have a subscription to eBay Blackthorne (Basic or Pro), Selling Manager (Basic or Pro), or eBay Stores. You can try eBay Blackthorne or Selling Manager free of charge for 30 days.

An overview of eBay Accounting Assistant can be found here:

A link is also provided if you'd like to download the Accounting Assistant User Guide.

Thanks,

Deirdre

What do you mean when you say "You can then process the information very quickly ...into the financial side of our program."

I've re-read each step that you posted. Good stuff!! I appreciate the "catch-up" strategy that you outling and certainly will be using it. Thanks for that. However, I'm still looking (and not yet finding) solid extra benefits offered by KeepMore.net. Benefits worthy of dumping my Online Quickbooks because I get more services?, advice?, support? Bottom line - How do I justify the activation fee of ??? and or annual subscription?

Thanks Dierdre for that info. I will be checking that out also. I have not yet been on the KeepMore.net site but I'll do that also. It may be that they have some other pieces that I am unaware of.

bargain-shopping-at-east-lodge: Once the items are imported into the KeepMore.net programs, you can quickly identify what bank account the funds are deposited into and whether you consider the sold items as 'Gross receipts or sales' for income purposes. You can do this quickly by processing up to 50 transactions at one time.

Some of the additional benefits of the KeepMore.net program is that included in your fee (either monthly or annual) you get the automatic import of your eBay transactions, daily backup of your information, training and customer support is included. And all tax updates are made as soon as the IRS announces the update.

Again, there is no activation fee, just your monthly subscription fee ($14.95) or annual fee of $149.00 which is a discounted fee from our full retail fees. Again, those fees include all of the above benefits.

I might be too late to get a question answered, but here goes! I'm going to be doing offline sales as well as EBay sales in the estate resale biz I'm starrting up -- would the online services mentioned in this topic thread (Keepmore and Ebay Acct'g Assistant) enable me to keep info on NON-EBay transactions as well?

THANK YOU for all the good info.

gladearth; I am glad you asked that question. KeepMore.net is on online accounting program for any type of business, not just for your eBay transactions. The automatic import feature helps you track all your eBay transactions, then you can record all your other business transactions quickly and easily to give you a complete financial picture of your entire business.

By the way you can import transactions from other accounts like PayPal, bank accounts and credit card accounts. And, just like your eBay transactions, we have a quick and easy way to process them into the financial side of our program.
