Quick question. Can Blackthorne be used with csv data and if so, how? We have need for consignment fee calculation, are using TL, but without csv capability, this won't help us. Thanks, Susan

Welcome to the workshop, Blackthorne Pro Consignment Tool. I've been using Blackthorne Pro exclusively since January 1st to manage my eBay listings & consignments. I had been testing Blackthorne for a year prior to that and have been a consignment seller for over 3 years. This workshop will include info about setting up clients & commission plans to generating payout reports and a bit more that may be useful to you as a Trading Assistant or eBay seller who sells other people's items on eBay.

I have a lot of info to cover today, so you may want to bookmark this page to review later. Please ask questions pertaining to using Blackthorne Pro for consignments at any time during this hour.

Setting Up Client Record

I set up my client info before I enter even one of their items into Blackthorne. You can click on the little icon tab for consignors to the right of the Finalize Sales & buyer icon tab or go to View>Consignors or click on Ctrl+F6 to access this window. To enter a new consignor, click on the link as circled below. This will open up a new record in which to enter your client's contact information. At this point, I also issue my client account number, which I use as a portion of my part # so I can easily track a particular client's items in Blackthorne and on eBay. (I'll talk a bit more about that in a moment.)

Setting Up Commission Plans

Most commission plans you create can be easily implemented in Blackthorne. (The one plan I saw asked about recently that cannot be done in Blackthorne is one in which the seller only charges the Featured Plus upgrade fee of $19.95 but no other listing fees to the client. I just had to come up with a similar sort of plan & this is how I handled it:

My client will be charged the fees for Featured Plus and Gallery Plus, the new enlarged gallery picture feature, prior to my listing. I will then charge her my basic commission upon sale. As seen above, my basic commission plan is 40% of the first $50 of the sale price, 30% of the balance to $500, 25% of the balance to $5000 and 15% of the balance over $5000.

This is a feature you may or may not choose to use, but I've found it handy to keep records straight and to find info easily. When I set up a client record, I issue each an account #. This becomes the first part of my part #. The second part of my part # is the Item ID # which Blackthorne generates when you create a new record. Thus, for example, 26-1814 is an item from my client #26. I have added my part number to my Ad Template, like this:

This generates a listing which shows, as with the above part number, GOing1nceAMC # 26-1814. In addition to aiding me, it also allows me to create a link which each client can use to view all of his items I have listed. I do a title & description search on "GOing1nceAMC # 26-", which

Consignment Item List/Log

Blackthorne's Item Details report can be modified & used to generate a log of client items you've received. After entering some basic info to the Items window, you can print a list of those items for yourself and/or your client. To modify this report, go to Tools>Options>Printing Templates and click on Item Details, then the Edit button.

That will open this simple-looking window in the Design View:

If you click on the Preview tab at the bottom of that Print Studio, you'll see something like this:

Let's imagine you want to add your logo to the top of this page. In the design view, first make the PageHeader section a bit taller, then select the image icon on the toolbar at the left and place the box for the image where you want it in the PageHeader:

You will now have to select your logo from your hard drive. Near the bottom right of the Print Studio window is a section for properties. Click on the 3-dot box to the right of the Image field to open the Open File Dialog window to go to the folder your logo is in & select it.

Adjust the location & approximate shape of the box for your logo to where & how you want it. Then, near the bottom of the properties, go to the SizeMode field & select Zoom to fill that space proportionally with your logo.
