Hi, I am Joyceb/danse and excited to share with you my experiences with the Education Specialist program.

I have been on eBay since 1996 as a buyer and became a seller in 1998. I have been a Power Seller and
owned several eBay Stores over the years. My son and granddaughter also buy and sell on eBay, that makes
three generations from our family who are active eBay users.

Sue Guldner of eBay Education is joining us for awhile and Christy Johnson of Power U will also join us
to answer questions.

There were many times over the years that people approached me and ask me how to sell on eBay and
I would share with them how I did it and felt it would be fun to teach classes and help people
become more successful on eBay. But at that time I didn’t know where to start.

Then about five years ago I heard about eBay University and thought, “wow, how do I become a
member of that group? I would love to travel and teach people how to eBay.”

With a little research I found that eBay University held their seminars in large metropolitan areas
and they were far and few between.

I learned eBay University had a small core of highly trained professional eBay University Instructors

with Jim “Griff” Griffith as the Dean of eBay University and the opportunity to join them was limited.

I lived in the middle of Kansas and I could not find an eBay University Seminar near enough for me
to attend so I put the dream on a back burner for awhile.
But I kept teaching eBay – someday - as one of my goals.

A little over two years ago I discovered eBay had expanded their Education program beyond eBay University
to a new program and introduced it as the eBay Education Specialists program.
(Actually it was my son who found the promotion for the program and called to tell me about it as
he knew how much I wanted to teach eBay classes.).

He called me on August 19, 2004 and as soon as I read the criteria for joining, I signed up on the spot!.
This was a dream come true. The Education Specialist program was new (introduced at 2004 eBay Live
in New Orleans), and it was an eBay authorized program with eBay education materials (same as eBay University)!

The entry qualification was reasonable and best of all, it had the power of eBay behind it.

Just exactly what I wanted! I was excited! And I still am!

The program is now its third year and it’s been fun to be one of the pioneers in bringing eBay
authorized workshops and seminars to Kansas. You could say I hit the ground running
and haven’t stopped yet. One of the greatest assets of the ES program are the Education Specialist
who are part of it. They are a wonderful group of supportive people who help each other learn the best
methods for marketing and presenting their workshops.

Today it is my pleasure to tell you a little about the ES (Education Specialist) program and encourage you
to look it over. If you have wanted to teach eBay classes and enjoy watching people learn and succeed
the ES program may be just the way to do it. I hope you will enjoy teaching eBay as much as I do.

To start I would like to show you how to access the program and find the Education Specialist site.

The company that administers the program for ebay is Power U and their ES site is set up to give us all the assistance and information we need to teach our workshops and seminars.

This will direct you to the Education Specialist information and the Education Specialist Directory:
It is important to know that when you become an ES all your workshops and information about you
are listed in the Power U Directory accessible from eBay.

One of your choices on the eBay Education Specialist page is “Become an Education Specialist
and teach others ho to use eBay.”
This link takes you to the Power U site home page where you find information on how to sign up
for the Education Specialist program.

There are currently four levels of Education Specialist. The entry level is The Basics of Selling on eBay. That is where everyone begins their career as an ES.

Everyone begins at the same level in the Education Specialist program.
We are Independent Contractors.

Although we may be responsible for setting our own
venues and workshops, we have
excellent support from eBay and Power U.

For example the second option on the eBay Education Specialist page is:
on Link"> Find an Education Specialist Trained by eBay.
When you click on that link it takes you to the Power U site. The Power U site holds the Directory
where the Education Specialists are listed.

The Directory is comprehensive and includes the ES business information which includes
listings of their workshops and contact information.

Most of Education Specialists receive many referrals from the listings in the
Link"> Power U Directory Listings

One referral resulted in 12 paid workshops for a library association in 2004 for me.
I receive from 3 to 5 inquiries a month. If I receive an inquiry from someone who lives
in another area or state I refer them to the directory.

The directory allows many different ways to search for existing Education Specialists and their workshops.

When you designate a search by state on by entering a state such as Link"> Kansas
the search results leads you to a list of existing Education Specialist plus
choices to refine your seaches. By city, state, type of classes, etc.
