In fact, an automotive part or accessory is sold on eBay every second. If you want to learn more about this amazing business opportunity then you should join the Terapeak team; Sarah Taheri and Dave Frey for their upcoming workshop. They will introduce you to some tools that you can use to learn more about this exiting Category. Using Research

Before we begin we would like to give you an overview of how market reserach works. Here is a simple run-down of the researching process:

1. You have an item to sell on eBay (example: BMW headlight)

2. You Research your item

3. You get valuable information

*this is a small sample of the information given*

4. You use the information to create a selling strategy and improve listing success:

ii. 2,637 listings on eBay in the last 30 days
iii. 14.49% success rate
iv. Wednesday is best day to sell
v. 7 day listings are most successful…etc
vi. Gallery is used most often in successful auctions

Reviewing the Most Successful Sellers of P&A

Have you ever wondered how some sellers do so well on eBay? If so, then using seller research may interest you.

With our research tool, you can research any eBay seller in P&A and know how successful they really are.

If for example if I wanted to know how much I could make selling Hub Caps, I could get reports on eBay’s top 5 Hub Cap sellers. These reports would show me;

- Their Total Sales, listings & bids
- Selling Times
- Success Rate
- Listing Types, Promotions, and Durations used…etc

If I wanted to know the sales potential of a variety of items, I could get reports on eBay’s top 5 Parts & Accessories sellers. These reports would show me what the most successful sellers are selling to make such high sales.

Researching What Products to Sell

Research can also be used to consider what products you should sell on eBay. Rather than randomly choosing what to sell, you can research products and truly evaluate their profit potential.
How would you know to stock up on these Elmo’s?

If for example you were unsure whether you should invest in:

- ATV Parts
- Motorcycle Parts
- Boat Parts

A quick Terapeak search on each category gives you a snapshot of their sales for the last 30 days:

From this research you can see that:

- Motorcycle Parts:
o Had the highest sales
o Had the most listings (largest market)
o Had the highest amount of Bids

- Boat Parts:
o Had the highest sell-through rate,
o Had the least amount of listings (smallest market)
o Had the highest amount of items offered

- ATV Parts:
o Had the lowest success rate
o Had lowest amount of bids
o Offered the lowest amount of items

If you used Sell-through Rate to decide what to sell, then Boat Parts, you could then take the research even farther and find out what kind of Boat Part you should sell.

The highest amount of listings is found within “Accessories & Gear”, but the highest sell-through rate and average selling price is associated with “Motors/Engines & Components”.

Within “Motors/Engines & Components” you can also see what type of motor is the most successful. It appears that “Outboard Motors” have a high sell-through rate and the highest selling price.

You could also see what type of “Outboard Motors” is most successful as well. It seems like “Under 10 hp” is the most popular and has the highest success rate.

You can use market research to gain a competitive edge with your eBay Motors, Parts & Accessories sales. If you are unsure how to sell in this category you can use research to learn. Research tools are very powerful and can provide the following information:

Timing”

What time of the year to list
What day of the week to end
What time of the day to end
How long to list your auction

Price

What pricing options you should use

Auction Details

What listing promotions to use
What title to use
What listing type to use

As you can see research can make listing in any category very simple. You get an inside look into the market, without spending countless hours searching through eBay.

Are all the listings for parts@accessories in ebay motors? Or are they in both ebay and ebay motors?

That is a great question. Whether the buyer searches eBay.com or Motors.eBay.com, they will see the same results.
