TIP #1 – Do your research
One of the first tips that I can offer is to do your homework! You want to make sure that you know as much information about your item as possible: the market value, the demand, key selling terms, etc. You want to make sure your audience feels confident that you are a reliable seller and that your items are what they covet. Take a moment to look at completed auctions to get more ideas on how to better market your items. eBay has many different forums with tips and workshops like this; read them regularly for advice. Use eBay Advanced Search to view closed listing information for the last 15 days.

The online auction world has allowed everyone to sell something, which means more competition. Get to know the type of auctions you will be competing against. Identify the descriptions, images and terms that helped to create a successful auction. Apply what you learned to your listing and make it better if you can.

TIP #2 – Know your audience
Knowing your audience and visitors is also useful. Auctiva recently partnered with Sellathon which provides an advanced counter. Their counters can tell you who visited your site, where they came from, where they went, what search terms used and more. Information like that is considered by many eBay sellers to be highly valuable.

TIP #3 – Price competitively
When it comes to setting the prices of your item, you need to be careful. Again this is where the research of other auctions comes in handy. Obviously, your goal is to earn the most revenue, but you won’t do that unless you price your item competitively.

TIP #4 – Create a professional-looking auction
The more professional your auction looks, the more traffic you are likely to receive. Increased traffic can equal increased bidding. One way to greatly amplify your professionalism is with a template. With Auctiva’s free online auction software, eBay sellers have access to hundreds of template options. The templates attract more attention to the important item information and to your images.

When you have a moment, can you go into the mentioned tools that "draw more views?"

Hi...I have 2 main concerns.
1)I have noticed that a lot of the listings that are managed by a management company...have very slow picture display. It seems to take forever and a lot of people don't want to wait.
2) I already feel like I'm being nickle & dimed to death. My profit is minimal. I have over 200 listings, but I have most of them in my store. I guess I'm just frustrated. What could Auctiva do for me? Thanks a lot.

I'm going to talk about a tool that will increase views to your auctions in a bit. But, just as a quick note, a store window in your auction that shows images of your other auctions will help keep buyers looking at your auctions.

I am a first time seller (I am selling something for my sister). It is a pricy item (diamond ring). How can I overcome the fact that I have no 'selling history' and still get the best price?

I like the Auctiva product, but I am a bookseller and rely heavily on "item specifics." Does the Auctive management solution offer the ability to use "item specifics?"

Janelie12,

1. Image hosting is a big issue for eBay sellers. One reason I feel we have an advantage here is that we've been doing image hosting for several years now. This has helped us put a system in place where we have maximum uptime on our images.

2. Auctiva's services are 100% free. So, there is no monthly fee or any per listing nickle and dime charging. A quick note on how we can afford to be free:

How do we offer a FREE tool? It's very straightforward. We have an innovative revenue-share system set up within Integrated Checkout. The first feature we're scheduled to release is shipping insurance. We're able to obtain the shipping insurance at a discounted rate, you as a seller would provide the opportunity for your buyer to purchase the shipping insurance at the same rate available from the USPS. We would then share that revenue gain with you. In a nutshell, we're able to provide our Seller Tools to you, free of charge and you also have the prospect of earning more money!
