The Internet, and in particular eBay, has changed the way people shop. Customers often want to buy products, obtain information, and receive real-time support anytime of the day or night. This has increased the demand for quality customer support, or as we call it, customer relationship management, or CRM for short.

CRM is not new. Decades ago the corner shop would deliver groceries for free, and the owner greeted you by name when you walked in the door. Believe it or not, that’s CRM.

Your eBay buyers are the same. They wanted to feel important, and have questions answered. If not, another seller is only a mouse click away. Not only do you want to keep this buyer, you want to attract more. The more buyers you attract, the more listings you can manage.

However, buyers will ask questions. Most of these questions will be repetitive. However the quicker you can respond to them, the happier you’ll make your buyer.

Keeping your buyers happy is the cornerstone of any business. Buyers are increasingly demanding higher and higher levels of service, and they want immediate answers to their questions. The competitive landscape of selling online makes it very easy to buyers to bounce from one Seller to the next, looking for the best fit. Sometimes, all it takes to keep a Buyer happy is quickly answering his or her question. A common complaint from many eBay bidders/buyers is that the seller never answered their email question, so they did not have enough information to place a bid, or to purchase a fixed price item.

This is where a CRM system shows its true value. An effective CRM system will help answer the repetitive buyer questions. Your Description may provide an answer, however it may be buried in the third paragraph. Think of yourself as the buyer. Would you really read five paragraphs of text unless you absolutely had to?

If you can provide your buyers with answers faster than your competition, you’ve got an edge. Since eBay can be a highly competitive environment, this edge may help in closing the sale. If you can beat your competitor to the punch, you’ll get the sale.
