One of the primary recommendations we have to sellers is to be aware of your competition. There are numerous benefits to selling online, but you still have to do your homework. Take the time to review similar items that are successfully being sold on eBay, find out how the seller is describing the item and make sure your pricing is reasonable.

Make sure your listing is as succinct as possible. Often, you’ll find listings with more information than buyers need to make a smart-buying decision. Take care to list your items as precisely as possible, without convoluting the description with adjectives. It’s also helpful to include detailed shipping information, as well as insurance costs. The added specifics will help your potential buyer to make a sound decision. Also, make note of the shippers you intend to use. Some shippers do not deliver on weekends. An accurate shipping estimate and delivery time is also important. It may be helpful to include a shipping calculator within your auction listing. Depending on the shipping method you select, you can often find these calculators on the company websites.

I fill my listings (clothing & accessories) with a LOT of information, including detailed description of the item, my return polices (very liberal), exact measurements, etc. It's very time-consuming, but how do I know if it's effective? Should I provide LESS info?

Schedule your auctions to close between 5 and 7pm PST. It’s been our experience that customers are more active during this time. Auctiva offers a scheduling interface where you can organize your sales by scheduling when to post your items. Check your Running and Ended items in our easy-to-use web interface. Do searches over your running and ended auctions. We store your items long after they are finished.
