Best Time of Day to Sell

One of the big mistakes we see beginner sellers making is that they neglect to account for the time of day that their auction will end. They sit down in front of the computer, post their listing, and let it close at whatever time of day they happened to list it. But the fact is, the time that your auction ends will have a big impact on the number of people who see your auction, the number of people who bid on your auction, and thus, the price you get for your item.

To illustrate our point, we will demonstrate two examples that have similar Sell-Through rates on a daily basis, but fluctuate dramatically when analyzed hourly.

Below is a typical graph showing the number of total listing vs. the number of successful listing for each of hour of day. The item is “Titleist Used Balls” and it has a 30-day success rate of 57%.

Hi there,

I just relocated from the US to Australia and would like to use those tools.

Can you confirm if your research tools cover ebay USA only or can be used on other ebay sites, such as ebay Australia (ebay.com.au) ?

Many thanks,
- yann

Is it really the time and day that matters or is there something else driving this? For example, traffic is high on ebay on Sunday nites because that it a time that most people are home and getting ready for the work week. I am trying to determine the underlying factors behind the times and days. Thanks.

Hi Yann,

Terapeak tools are currently available for the US only. But we hope to offer international data in the future.
