I wasn't at your first discussion so if it's covered there let me know. I'm interested in photographing coiins both in and outside plastic encosures, pottery, dishes, and posters for advertising various rock and blues bands. Thanks.

Can you suggest the best method for shooting silver pieces? It is the same problem as the flatware you discussed earlier but some of it is large and won't fit into a homemade tent. Any other good tips?

Camerajim,
I am sorry you have to reschedule. If you are still here, I have a quick question. The milk jug you are using is solid white. Will the kind of clear ones that are a frosted white work also?
Thanks
Kim

Hello again,

We must apologize, but we are going to have to reschedule this workshop for tomorrow. camerajim's technical difficulties have proven to be worse than we had thought.

He will try and take a couple of questions now, and he will also try to address whichever ones aren't answered now during the rescheduled session tomorrow.

Wednesday - 3:00PM PT

Hi Camerajim, sorry for your problem but this workshop seems most interesting and I will return when it is rescheduled. One ? before I go on the first lesson for photing the watch. This may seem a little elementary but .... is the watch under the milk jug when the photo was snapped. thanks. Joci

As for that question about larger silver pieces, you could construct a large light tent out of a white sheet or other fabric, draped over a wire frame or a glass table.

"is the watch under the milk jug"

Yes, you place your subject under the jug.

thanx for the tip on the milk jug and the tupperware bowl u've stated before. one quick question as far at the frosted bowl...do u need to shine light from the sides of the bowl as well? or just have light from the top?

thank you,
mike

Coins?

Again, a milk jug would work well, but you should place your lights lower, to create more detail.

Thanks for the information on light tents. Please tell me, how do I take pictures of objects like watches and rings, etc, in order that they appear to be floating in mid air?

".do u need to shine light from the sides of the bowl as well?"

Yes, you should have lights from both sides, to evenly illuminate the outside of the light tent (jug).

One light would work OK, but you'd have more shadows.
