Hello, my name is Lisa Suttora and I am the Founder and CEO of What Do I Sell.com. We are an eBay Certified Services Provider that specializes in teaching eBay sellers how to find the products buyers want, locate legitimate suppliers, and sell successfully in the eBay Marketplace.

I’m excited to be here today to tell you about product sourcing through trade publications.

Today I will talk about what a trade publication is and how you can use these to find products to sell on eBay, learn about product trending information, locate legitimate suppliers, learn what customers in your industry want to purchase and more!

Trade publications are one of the most important resources in every seller’s toolkit.

What is a trade publication?

A trade publication is an industry specific magazine, newspaper or sometimes just even an email newsletter that is written specifically for retailers in a particular industry.

For example, there are trade publications for the:

- Toy industry such as the Toy Directory at Link

- Children’s wear industry, such as Children’s Business magazine at: Link

- Gifts and accessories industry such as Gifts and Decorative Accessories magazine at: Link

- Footwear industry, such as Footwear News at Link

Most every industry has a trade publication or newsletter associated with it.

Hello barter-exchange, welcome to the workshop! There are a variety of tools that you can use to determine if a product has profit potential on eBay. Your primary way to find this information is through research - looking at what is currently being sold in the eBay Marketplace. Looking at the Competed Items listings to assess market demand, using research tools such as Terapeak as well as looking at eBay's Seller Central and hot lists. Assessing customer demand for a product is the most important step in product sourcing.
