Filtering your Closed Listing Results

Using eBay Closed Listings can be a challenge if you can't find goods exactly like yours to compare prices. Using some simple techniques to filter your data will save you time and help you get more accurate pricing information. There are lots of little tactics you can use, but in this workshop we will focus on the following:

  • Learning the eBay Category Structure
  • Using Price Floors and Ceilings
  • Why you should use Item Specifics
  • The convenience of UPC's and ISBN's

Hi Woodworks,

Thank you for your question. What kind of homemade items are you selling? There is not much you can't find on eBay! If it is 100% unique, you should charge whatever you think it is worth and if the auction doesn't close, you can try again later!

I love to be able to just type in the ISBN # for a book... but, do you mean if I want to list a newer product that has a UPC#, that product will come up?

How do I determine which category is actually best suited for my product. I have clear tiffany glass panels that go in cabinet door. I have had sucess selling in antique tiffany, but in looking at completed pricing, how to I tell if art glass parts, or furniture might bring more money?

I think a closed listing means that the item has been listed and the auciton is over. . . terapeak is saying that it provides a useful research tool.

Hi srhermele,
This is a good question. A closed listing is a listing that has either ended with a buyer purchasing the item, or with no one purchasing the item.

A regular listing just refers to any listing on eBay (including live and closed listings).

Trilexi3 brings up an interesting point. Is there some way to search listings by ISBNs?

Hi Prolist,

Thank you for your question. I think you will find that you may have to conduct three different searches in closed listings to find which one brings the most money. You may also want to conduct more thorough analysis with a research tool such as Terapeak, but we will cover that later in the workshop.
