Member Workshop: Use Market Research to Craft an Unbeatable Auction!-July 7

Jun 29, 2006 11:55 PM
Topic: Member Workshop: Make More Money on eBay – Use Market Research to Craft an Unbeatable Auction!

Host: terapeak
Date: Friday 07/07
Time: 11:00 to 12:00 PT
Location: Workshop Board

Description: Don’t play the guessing game when creating an auction, use market research and increase your sales and sell-through rate. Selling on eBay can be challenging, market research can help you decide:

  • What time of the year to list
  • What day of the week to end
  • What hour of the day to end
  • How long to list your auction
  • What listing promotions to use
  • What price to start with
  • What title to use
  • What listing type to use

Terapeak marketing team Sarah Taheri, Dave Frey, and Morgan Brooks will use this workshop to illustrate how market research can be used to build outstanding auctions. They will run through the process of building an auction and show how market research can be used to make the right choices.

Cheers,

Deirdre

Getting Started

In our fictional scenario Jenny is our seller and she already knew what she was going to sell (Men’s waterproof Jacket). If you do not know what you want to sell you can use Market Research to look for product opportunities. We have:

  • Daily, Monthly & Yearly Trend Graphs
  • Hot Lists
  • Complete reports helping you spot upcoming opportunities
  • Complete reports on your competition including: market share breakdown & seller specific research.

To get started she got together the description of her item and a picture:

Item: Waterproof Mammut      Jacket Model: Castor

Size: Small                               Condition: New without Tags

I'm another newbie to the workshops. Do we just hit "Refresh" to see what's being "said"? Or is what's said only in response to questions asked? Thanks.

Hello. I have been using terapeak for a few months now and I would like to know if there is a way to view historical sales data for a period of a year. For example, I would like to know what was selling for Back to School last year, how do I look at that information?

How do you start the research process? Where would you suggest a seller begin?

If I am trying to sell a product, let's say a timeshare property, how can I figure out how to price it by what has sold, and how can I evaluate my "competitors" marketing methods to see what works best?

what have you found through research to be the best day to start an auction? Is it Sunday? and the length. Is 7 days good enough?
