Can you tell me what tools are available (either eBay tools or 3rd party tools) for determining sales figures for certain products or product types?

June 2nd - What Sells? Using Market Research to $pot Products that $ell

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to our workshop, “$potting Products that $ell” an information session to teach eBayer’s how they can use market research to find out what products are hot on the market and worthy of an investment.

Terapeak marketing team, Sara Taheri, Dave Frey, and Morgan Brooks are here to answer any question you may have. We like our workshops to be very interactive so feel free to jump into the discussion at any time. If you are unsure how a workshop is done, feel free to ask for help.

Being a successful seller on eBay is not always as easy as it seems. Most sellers start on eBay with no idea how successful their items will be. This can be very risky as the percentage of unsold items is very high. When that happens you waste time and money. To decrease your risk, and put you ahead of the competition you can use a variety of research tools to see what’s selling, what’s going to sell and what’s about to dive.

Today we will be discussing the various research tools you can use to $pot Products that $ell including;

  • Terapeak Hot List
  • Spot Selling Trends
  • Analyzing Market Competition
  • Keyword Research
  • Seller Profile
  • Sell-Through Rate
  • Wrap up

Terapeak Hot List

To start your selling process a wise first step is to look at a Hot list. A Hot list compiles eBay sales data and determines what the hottest selling items are.

The Terapeak Hot List is a tool useful for seller’s who;

  • Are not sure what they should sell and would like product ideas.
  • Would like to know the popularity of their items.
  • Want to stay current and ahead of the competition

The Hot List, illustrated below, is a list of all the categories on eBay that are showing strong growth. Hotness is determined by the ratio of bid growth to listing growth. If the amount of bids is growing faster than the amount of listings then there is demand for that product. This tells us what items are Hot and worthy of investment.

Our list is updated daily and we allow you too sort the Hot List according to “Sales Rank”, “Hot Status”, and “Selling Success Rate.”

As you can see in the example;

  • “Sporting Goods>Golf>Clubs” had the highest sales
