Introduction
Hello, my name is Lisa Suttora and I am the Founder and CEO of What Do I Sell.com™. We are an eBay Certified Service Provider that specializes in teaching eBay sellers how to find the products buyers want, locate legitimate suppliers, and sell successfully in the eBay Marketplace.

Take a Snapshot of Your Business

In order to grow your eBay business and reach your financial goals, you must know at what point you are growing from.

But getting a picture of the current status of your business does not mean just taking inventory and preparing for year end taxes.

It means taking a complete look at the assets and areas of improvement in your business.

We call this a “Holistic Year End Business Assessment”

Getting It Out of Your Head

An important purpose of doing a year end business assessment is to get the information about your business out of your head and down on paper.

In fact the studies show that just by getting your business particulars down on paper, you can increase your chances of success by 70%!

No more going to sleep at night with your head whirling with business details and plans.

With this year end assessment, you’ll have it all down on paper and you can sleep soundly knowing that you have a plan.

It’s Time to Take Stock

Every business owner needs to make a periodic assessment of the state of their business. This is especially true at year end.

Before charting the growth of your business, you must establish a baseline of key statistics.

What follows are the key areas that you need to evaluate in your business.

It’s important not to skip a step!

Each exercise in this assessment will take you one step closer to your dream business.

What is Your Business Level

In order to make solid business decisions for your eBay business, you must first know what level your business is at.

Here are the 4 stages of business growth.

1. Brand new - Just starting out. You are in the exploration phase

2. Startup - Basic business foundation is laid. You’re business is legal and you have started selling on eBay on a regular basis

3. Growth - Selling regularly, you have some established product lines. You are still in the process of increasing the scope of your product lines.

4. Expansion – Your business is solid, now it’s time to scale it and expand and improve upon what you have built!

What is Your Why?

Your “why” is THE reason for your business.

The personal motivation behind your desire to build an eBay business.

Get very clear on WHY you want to build a business.

Knowing this will help you make your business decisions in the coming year.

How Much Time Can You Devote to Your eBay Business?

Taking a realistic assessment of how much time you have to devote to your business each week is the first step to making things happen.

Most people are “time optimistic” and underestimate the time they have available to devote to weekly business tasks.

This can wreak havoc with your ability to plan for the growth of your business and your ability to take action on those plans.

Spending a consistent amount of time daily will be more effective than spending large chunks of sporadic time on your business each week.

For example, spending an hour a day on your business, 6 days a week will yield better results rather than spending 5 hours once a week on Saturday.

In What Area Do You Spend the Most Time?

What percentage of time do you currently spend in the following areas of your business :

A. Researcher (Learning, absorbing, fact finding)
B. Business Builder (Visionary, strategist, opportunity detective)
C. Coordinator (Task planning)
D. Technician (Working, action, getting it done)

Spending too much time learning and not enough time taking action will hurt your sales. Conversely, spending too much time working and not enough time planning, will limit your business’ growth.

Who is Your eBay Business Network

The great thing about eBay entrepreneurs is that they have a desire to strike out on their own. This very same trait can be limiting if you isolate yourself while building your business.

Building an eBay network of people and resources to draw upon on a regular basis will significantly increase your business’ strength.

This network can be made up of friends, other eBay sellers, professional associations etc.
