I have a couple of old Dell Desktop's that I want to donate. But I want them to be put to good use like to a library or school. I did a google search in my area and could not find any school or library that would take an old workable desktop. Any suggestions?

I did a search today for "cardbus compactflash" and got a lot of hits. All of which depicted cards that allow you to connect a CompactFlash card to your laptops using cardbus compatible ports instead of usb adapters and thelike. None I found are proper adapters. They are all old 8 or 16 bit adapters in the PCMCIA type I or II class. The ones with a yellow label, I know for a fact only reads 700 k/second and even falls short of the lowest of low standards. If you are like me, you want a...

We're needing to stay in a hotel temporarily while we wait to move in our new place. The hotel has wi-fi. For some reason, I always thought that only meant it was for a laptop, but then I wondered if it would work with my desktop? My computer is a HP Pavillion Special Edition with Vista 64 bit OS. It's also only a few months old. Also, if it will work, how do I set it up?

Hi Computer Folks.... Hope I am in the right place to ask this question. If not, can someone please point to the correct board. I was recently at a meeting where the President of the group told us all that he knew who opened and who did not open the emails he sent. He said he had placed a "prompt" on his computer that allows one to see if someone opens up their mail. Question one: Is there such a thing? How can you know that this is going on or not? Question two: If there is...

Windows XP & 17" flat panel screen. I just upped my screen resolution from 1024x768 to 1152x864. Now I want some of the windows (like eBay) to open full screen. I use the Maximize button but when I close and reopen it's back to less than full screen. I drag the lower right corner all the way, but, again, when I close and reopen it's back to less than full screen. What am I doing wrong? Or can't it be done? There are 10 types of people: those that understand binary, and those that don't.

I found what I'm going to ask Santa for! Just think, $6500 and you can own one of these babies! Link All the videos are just as wild as the display. Only thing is one of these weighs 45 pounds without the stand. Sorta like going back to the CRTs, eh? . ..

Thanks to everyone who has helped me before. I plan to keep in the subject as my computer model to keep everything on this one thread instead of multiple ones. I am sure it will be active for a while. I am wanting to put in a new PCI NVIDIA 256mb 3D video card. I assume that my computer a HP XW8200 DUAL XEON 3.8GHZ, can support a card like that.? It has PCI slots from what I gathered from a lookover and Google confirmation. Also, It doesn't have a monitor connection that works with...

I have Windows 98se on one of my machine. What is the difference between an upgrade or full install? I was thinking about getting Windows 2000 professional, but I want to keep my files and drivers on my Windows 98se machine. So do I buy the upgrade version or the full install of Windows 2000 Professional if I want to keep my files and manual drivers?
