New eBay Motors

Mar 16, 2009 4:05 PM
Hi everybody, before I go any further I would like to introduce myself. My name is Bob and I work with the Support teams for eBay Motors. I have been with eBay since 1999 and with Motors for the last five years. I wanted to bring some news about the New Motors site and expand on Rob Chesney’s Announcement Board post today (at Link ).

Since New Motors’ original debut in March 2007 there have been a host of changes, today the vast majority of eBay Motors buyers and sellers are using it. Thanks for the great suggestions, many from regular posters on this board, for making it even better. Based on what you have told us we have fine tuned the search experience to be quicker and easier. I’d like to call out a few of the changes here.

• To change or refine your search and add several search options at once click the "More choices" link that appears to the left of the search results. The "More choices" menu will appear and you can select multiple search options at once.
To change the values for a search option you've already applied, just click on the gray search option box to get a list of available options. Select the options you'd like, and click "Update" to update your search.

To remove search options, click the "X" in the upper right-hand corner of the gray box. The box will close and your search results will be updated to reflect the change.

• The More Choices menu also allows filtering by condition, seller and "for sale by". “Buying Options” refines search by listing format, description search, completed search, PayPal, free shipping and more advanced filters.

• You can also search for vehicles or parts in your local area, for cars and trucks, use the "Vehicles in your area" box located above the search results. Enter your ZIP Code, select a distance, and click the "Show Vehicles" button. Vehicles near you will appear sorted by distance, with the distance highlighted in yellow. For parts and accessories, motorcycles, and other vehicles, click the "More choices" or "See all" links to the left of the search results and select the Location search option on the More Choices menu. This will narrow the search results to show listings near you.

• Once you have a search you like you can easily save it by clicking the "Save Vehicle" button on a vehicle's product page or on all other search pages, click the "Add to Favorite Searches" link above the search results.

With these changes and two years of testing behind us, we’re ready to retire the old eBay Motors site on April 13, 2009. You will be able to switch back and forth until the 13th, if you haven’t tried the New Motors site recently please take it for a test spin, just click the "try it now" link at the top of the site pages. We have updated the Frequently Asked Questions and will be hosting office hours Wednesday 3-19-09 from noon to 1:00 pm PDT here on the board to help address any questions.

Bob, you have been at eBay since 1999 and 5 years at Motors?

Have you ever bought or sold a vehicle on eBay?

Have any of the software developers over in Bangladesh ever bought or sold a vehicle on eBay?

Do you really believe what you are saying?

Hi Bob, and yes welcome.

{ Based on what you have told us we have fine tuned the search experience to be quicker and easier } :^O

Bob all ebay has done with {search} is make it hard for non PC savy folks to run and get decent results.

Yes if you do a click here and a click there click click click you can finally locate items but man o man they have really made it tuff.
Most folks prob just give up.

But seeing how eBays stock and sales are hitting new highs I figure we here are like the old one hand clapping joke.

{Best match} just who's brain child was that ?

Did you folks know that someone with a 97 percent feedback rate can get a better placment in { best match } than someone with 100 perecnt feed back ?
You know how?
The member was offering free shipping. So walla they go to the head of the line.
Their negs by the way were for not shipping items :^O
But hey at least it was free.

You cant even get away from best match unless you start clicking, the darn thing just keeps taking you right back to best match.
The same items will show up page after page.

{Feedback} On high dollar items like autos the sellers need to know who is a dead beat and who is not.
The old 3 strikes and your out rule is not even enforced any longer for non paying bidders. Its now looked at on a case by case basis.
At the very least Bob on auto sales you folks need to get tuff on non paying bidders. get them out of here.

The star system is what it is.
Sellers get dinged on the post office's preformance.
sellers get dinged when the post office raise's their rates.
You can ship for free the same day as payment but if it takes the post office to long to deliver the seller gets dinged on shipping time.

Mabey on regular ebay Bob were the buyers are looking at high tech items and video games ect things run smooth but here in Motors its tough.
Someday do a age profile of the buyers / bidders between regular ebay and Motors. I bet eBay would be supprised.

{Simple} worked here Bob and worked good.

I know nothing is going to change whats been done but please stop with the improvments here in Motors.
Its been like a wild scramble , to much to fast. eBay is driving bidders and buyers away from here. JMHO

Thanks for stopping by.
Oh, and also my cow siggy was not that bad.

Bob,
I do not do alot of transactions on E-bay but i can tell you everytime someone changes there web-site something is always lost. I would ask that you retain the original site for all the old faithfull customers you built your company on.

We would consider it a good gesture.

There was a U.S. electric engineer who discovered alpha rays named Bob Owens

You any relation to that Bob?

Alpha rays can be absorbed by tissue paper or the outer layers of human skin However a well formed tin foil hat or shielding can protect you fro harmful alpha rays Bob

Bob and Rob

I think I'm starting to detect a pattern here.

Kinda be pretty neat if eBay would a spot for sellers to place feedback next to the eBay logo, kinda like a customer rating from the people that purchase your services, I mean it's only fair that we are able to rate your service and that you display all your feedback for everyone to see before purchasing your service isn't it.

wait... did I give you enough time to fashion a suitable tin foil hat?

The only thing worse then the "new" ebay motors is the new ebay boards.

Why does ebay insist on changes NOBODY likes , except the bozo that gets paid to come up with bad ideas.

Welcom Bob
The New Board Sucks!
also when you took away the Option of taking Other Type of Payment!
for Sellers You also eliminated a lot of Sellers
Your Feedback System Sucks

just my 3 cents

Dear bob you didnt even take time to Up load a custom avatar to make us feel like you cared enough to fit in with the gang.

Dear bob we lack faith you exist, instead we feel someone typed a bunch of text and assigned a name to it to make it have a connection to us, much like the workers in a indian call center called "bob"

Dear bob I cant recall when any employee of Ebay ever posted here and took what we your cutomers said and made changes accordingly

Dear bob we cant recall any ebay emploee posting here they cared from Bill Cobb to you and ever comming back with a response to our messages

Dear bob your company is run by slobs

Please DO NOT force everyone to go to the new e-bay motors. In short:

IT SUCKS!

I can't find anything with it. It uses to much flash dependent software, and it is God awful slow.

I don't like having to dig around, or click boxes to "refine" my search options.

Please Please Please don't do this. E-bay is headed for the crapper as it is. This will only make it worse
