This is the contents of the original bibliography thread that fine.books began but ended up being tossed. I had 63 posts to begin with, but I may have edited out posts that were not specific to this thread. (I do that to most of my 'saved' threads so they will be easier to read.)

I do not plan to post a hint or tip-a-day, but I hope others will drop in from time to time and leave a few pearls of wisdom. Kick-off Tip: Use keywords. Seldom do I use the title or author’s name in the 45-space title unless it is a collectible or has a famous illustrator. Usually I use a string of keywords. Sometimes the keywords come easily and other times they are not as obvious. I group by theme as much as possible, both to attract the multiple buyers and to ‘expand’ on the...

I happened across a first printing of Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" this morning without a jacket. I see that one in similar condition sold here for $132.50 this week. I have an extremely tattered dust jacket from a 22nd printing that fits the first printing points: price - $6.95 code on front flap - 10/57 bottom of back flap - publisher's name and address My question; is it worth any more to sell the two together given how torn and folded the jacket is? I would, of course, disclose...

Link A car crash victim has spoken of the horror he endured for 23 years after he was misdiagnosed as being in a coma when he was conscious the whole time. Rom Houben, trapped in his paralysed body after a car crash, described his real-life nightmare as he screamed to doctors that he could hear them - but could make no sound. 'I screamed, but there was nothing to hear,' said Mr Houben, now 46, who doctors thought was in a persistent vegatative state. 'I dreamed myself away,' he added,...

. 11 Ways Geeks Measure the World Megafonzies (coolness) We don’t know if Professor Hubert Farnsworth, inventor of the Finglonger, coined the term ‘Megafonzie’. We can assume that one Fonzie is the amount of coolness generated by Arthur Fonzarelli but his coolometer tells us that two kids acquiring a lot of swag by dishonest means rates 40 megafonzies. Maybe I’m a goodie-two-shoes, but that seems discordant to me. Millihelens (beauty) One millihelen is enough beauty to launch...

I went to the annual local AAUW sale this morning. Lots of interesting observations (which I may share later), but for now ... I have some questions about a book find that may prove to be lucrative (or not). I picked up a copy of The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. Right away, I suspected it might be an early or even a First Edition, because the jacket sported a very early photo of the author and the front flap had the notation 0964 at the bottom edge (which I thought might correlate to...

Have a family-owned book I want to list and have several questions about it. It's the red slip-cased Lord of the Rings ISBN-0-395-19395-8. Volumes: 1. Originally Published: 1974, revised 1987. Text: 1987 updated second edition (“1965/1966 edition” on copyright page). Printing:...

I know I could... if I could just forgive this one person in my life. There are people that I am not fond of, people that I don't particularly like, and a few that I avoid. But as far as I know, there is one person that I hate, really actually hate, and it bothers me. It messes with my head and with my quiet moments, and I think if I could just forgive him for his past offenses, I could be a better person (not perfect, just better). Is that a selfish motive? Not that it really...

Arrgh-I just got my Saturday mail and enclosed was the 2010 coupon book for my Medicare Supplemental-cost has gone up $20.00 a month to $139.62. I lowered my Medicare D coverage last year, I absolutely stayed as healthy as I could so I didn't need any expensive drugs which would rush me to the "donut hole" of no coverage. That premium for the new year is squeezing another three dollars out...
