eBay automatically activates best offer option on my listings

Why does eBay feel they can change my listing to accept best offers. If I wanted to accept offers I’d add that option on my own. This option completely changes the buyer/seller dynamic on said item. It indicates the seller will automatically sell for less then a straight buy it now price. I have personally not bought from people that refuse to drop price even the slightest on a item that is marked as best offer. Ebay needs to abandon this practice immediately.
