Did you mean:

Putting a clickable link in a ebay message.

A potential customer emailed me asking if I had a certain item.

I happen to have two different ones for sale.

I tried to reply with two clickable links but they don't work.

I could have swore that you used to be able to send links in a ebay message?

Hmmmm it's not letting me.

I'm copying and pasting the url from the listing.

I must be doing something wrong.

I'll try and figure it out.

Thanks!

I tried that.

This is a very "challenged" buyer.

About 10 stupid questions within an hour.
I'm getting ready to block and I RARELY do that just for stupid questions.

Make sure you hit the

"return" key after pasting any URL

dunno why, but for some reason it will not be clickable (sometimes, in any input type box)  if you just paste it in and don't have any entry, line break, characters after  the URL

In addition, the problem may be on the recipients end (depending how they are accessing your email/message/reply)

some platforms disable clickable links for the readers protection

Buyer: I'd love to buy the light gray solid back stihl hat please

----------------------------------------------------

Buyer: But I had to click on contact seller and that's what I'm doing...

----------------------------------------------------

Buyer: Yup the light grey solid back

----------------------------------------------------

Buyer: It says on ebay you have them but I can't click on it to buy it

----------------------------------------------------

Me: Light gray? Yes, I have it in mesh back or solid back just as the listing shows.

----------------------------------------------------

Buyer: I want the one circled do you have any available

That request by the buyer, along with the image showing the item circled as described, seems crystal-clear to me... 🤔

As for putting the links to listings in a message, I have seen some weird behavior by eBay. I had a reply from a buyer once in which the links I had put in parentheses in my original message seemed to have been removed, leaving only the empty parentheses behind. In other cases the links seemed to go through just fine, from what I saw in my own copies of the outbound messages.

The links are not functional hyperlinks anyway when enclosed in a message through eBay. The buyer will need to copy and paste each link into his browser address window.

Yeah, no, that still doesn't make it an active link.  You cannot send active links through the eBay message center no matter what tricks you think you may have up your sleeve.  You can paste in links, but they will not be active, requiring your challenged buyers to copy and paste them into their browser.  And good luck with that.

Define "not letting me".

Does this mean when you paste the link eBay won't allow you to send the message or do you mean that when you paste the link it does not appear clickable?

If it's the later then the link will likely be clickable after you send it (copy yourself to confirm).

If it's the former, maybe there is something odd about the link because I send them frequently and as recently as a couple of days ago.

One other thing, are you doing this from within My Messages or are you doing it directly from a question received in your email client?

Links are not active in received messages through the Message Center either.

@inhawaii         all I can say, I've sent them and people have bought.......I assume from the link.

Send me a message (from a listing) and let me try to send you one..............

Looks like they work here on the boards, but not in the message ... unless ... like @slippinjimmy said the link does not function until AFTER you send it?
