Hi staerdal,

You can't seem to work out the settings in the link provided by redbud_farm you might consider using Google Translate http://translate.google.com/# top translate the message you received.

Cheers,

Richelle :)

ok so i had the same problem. what i did was i changed the address on my account. i couldnt figure out why it was still in german for me too (not really a problem because i speak it but the euro-dollar exchange was frustratiing) so what i simply did was, after changing my address, to log out of ebay.de and log in through ebay.com. then my settings were automatically changed to english

Hi. I have a slightly different problem.

I want to buy some concert tickets for a gig in GErmany but the sellers listing is in German. I don't understand the majority of it. Is there any way i can get it translated into English before I buy?

I can't really buy in another language!!

Thanks for any help!

I am having the same problem - notifications all in Spanish and I speak very little.

I could change my address to a non-Spanish address, but of course then it wouldn't be my address.

After much hunting around the help pages I found this:

"The language you see depends on what country you're registered in, and you can only open an account in the country where you live. For example, if you're registered in the U.S., your account language will be English."

So basically it would seem the answer is 'tough' - you get the primary language of the country where you live regardless of whether you speak it well.

I also registered for ebay while living in Germany, but now live in UK and English is my first langauge.

I've tried both suggestions here (checking my account preferences - couldn't find any setting for langauge; changed my address to a UK address) without any luck.

If I logon to ebay.co.uk, I see English text. Like others here, the problem I'm trying to solve is that I always receive emails from ebay in German.

It seems rather strange that there is not a simple setting under account preferences.

sometimes it takes awhile for the adress change to take affect in all areas.

you might try emailing ebay and exsplaining the concern

Hello,

I had the same problem, but found out that if I changed the country-domain in the browser-address-field, for example from: my.ebay.de/... ...to... my.ebay.co.uk/... the language will also change.

Change it to whatever country-domain you want the text to be displayed in.

Best regards,

Karius_Baktus

There doesn't seem to be an e-mail address on their Help pages, only a telephone number.

To call the US with a cell phone is rather expensive…

I have the same problem. I'm registered in Switzerland which is fine but this is a trilingual country speaking German, French and Italian. There is absolutly no option to change to English or any other language other than german. The site shows in German however all the emails from ebay are in German. I always have to use google translate to change the language from ebay's email messages. Please help.

ebay defaults to the countryt you're registered in,  so it'd not be english.

no way to change  the emails as auto sent i believe in language of registered country

Hi, we've been having the same problems here. Is there any other solution to change the language notification message, other than creating a new account? If not, I think its somthing the devs at ebay should address.

no need, you shouldn't have a problem as it's the country you are registered in
