Buyer sends a physical threat?

Just be polite.  Recall the package and then provide a full refund.  Block the buyer, of course.

In the future, don't apologize for postal delays or other stuff beyond your control.

And don't help train bad buyers with partial refunds for abusive behavior! This guy threatened you and even impugned your state, and you want to give him some money for it?

Not to blame the victim, but keep it professional and businesslike. Just remind the buyer of the delivery estimate,  monitor the tracking, and don't appease the buyer before there's an actual problem.

@fruitsandveggies75

Report this buyer for abuse and contact the police where they live.  Unacceptable.

one more thing go down to the post office and have them run an internal track this will give you more information than what the online track does

Buyer sends a physical threat?

Asking for a refund isn't a physical threat.

Buyer sends a physical threat?

I agree. No threat made.

The buyer isn't going to stalk and murder you over a shipping delay.

No need for interaction.

No need for partial refunds.

The buyer can file a INR after the appropriate time has elapsed, then take it from there.

Threatening to 'visit' someone is, though.

Agree with @inhawaii  otherwise.

That ridiculous "I'm gonna whup your azz" message, though - some people I swear are permanently drunk.

You don't think threatening to "visit in person soon" is a threat? I do!

Internet tough guys are a dime a dozen.

You are more likely to flap your arms and fly to the moon than you are to get a visit.

Buyer sends a physical threat?

replying to the only response I’ve seen that wasn’t critical 🫣

Thanks for all the answers. Honestly in the end I don’t mind sending partial refunds as a first step in attempt to save reviews, just something I personally don’t mind spending money on.

I think the decision I’ve made just cause I tend to be on the more cautious end especially since this is my first dealing, is to refund minus shipping, and pay usps their $17 to intercept it and send it back to me.
Guess my last question is does that screw me over with eBay and open me up to them opening a case for demanding their shipping money back or what?

thanks again.

I don't and neither would law enforcement.

I'm going to visit you. = Not a threat.

I'm going to visit you and break your kneecaps.  = That's a threat.

You are going to recall, and refund "minus shipping" ?

What is your justification for withholding the shipping?
