I got my first return in at least three years today. It was a pretty simple issue; I had two different items listed by same band, and I shipped the wrong one.
The buyer opened a return for "sent wrong item", and included a message that said "I got the wrong item, can you please send the correct one?". eBay automatically approved the return and gave the buyer until March 11 to return the item.
So with an open return and a buyer who wants the correct item, here is what I did:
First, I went to the open return case and refunded the buyer in full so he is now whole. Next, I messaged the buyer, apologized for the screw up, and explained how I would resolve the matter.
So what does the buyer get?
So what did I get?

Well, it was your screw up. Handle it how you want.

Your ID shows no listings to speak of.

This is a three-month old thread that was resolved when it happened.
As for no listings on an ID, are you aware of posting IDs?

I wasn't talking to you, but yes. No one can verify information that way, cool. I was curious what she sold. If it in fact did happen, she made the screw up and should make it as easy as possible. I have had to return things. It is easy and I usually make a friend along the way and buy again. I would have handled it similar and have. It was a very indulgent post. And to have an id to just post is funny Indulgence. My opinion. I'm entitled to it.

Hers isn't a posting ID. She has 1100+ in buyer feedback.

Okay, a buying/posting ID. Same with my own. I'm not naive enough to post with my selling ID.

Good for you...exactly what I would do especially if I had very little money into the item.
