SELLERS IMPORTANT

I sold an item that was exactly as described. The buyer looked at a stock photo rather than looking at the description and listing. It was a brand new item. Buyer complained and demanded a return because of his error. Normally I would've been happy to help but he was being very abrasive and calling me a liar etc. It was his mistake not mine. He left negative feedback and I couldn't get it removed until the case was solved. He escalated the issue to customer service. When I was notified, I contacted customer service and the rep told me that I did in fact describe the item accurately and the buyer was at fault for abusing the buyer protection policy. She then told me to send the buyer an email stating that if he doesn't withdraw his claim that he would lose his eBay privileges. I have all of this on the transcript of the conversation between me and the rep. Well, I did what they said and I was told after 48 hours I would be permitted to request the feedback be removed since it was not accurate at all. Well, after 48 hours, I get another email from eBay, but this time it says they granted the buyer a return and I would have to pay for the items to be shipped back to me. THIS IS A HUGE CROCK and last month I sold over $13,000 worth of items on eBay and they are getting their 10% from me and I am now going to close my account. This is not a sellers site at all. I had a buyer bid on an item and just didn't pay but I couldn't leave any negative feedback or do anything except relist it. Yet I sell an item and describe it perfectly and I get negative feedback and get to pay to have a person who cussed me up and down for his mistake to ship it back to me. EBay can go to hell as far as I am concerned. Just wanted to let you know who you are dealing with! I have been a member of eBay since 1999 (25 years) and they want to pull this. Its beyond ridiculous!

No it wasn't.

Your stock photo was of a different item then you shipped.

After 25 years, you should know that your photos should show the item you're selling, not a different item.

Using stock photos if fine as long as the photo is the item you're selling, not a different item.

I have seen several recent threads where long time sellers run into a problem and are convinced they couldn't have avoided the problem.  I've made mistakes where I was certain I was in the right, but others have pointed out the view from the other side, which can be obscured if you aren't careful.

 

Keep in mind, regardless of any seller's years selling here, no one seller has more experience than the collective experience of the knowledgeable volunteers on this board.  Sometimes you have to swallow your pride and listen to them.

Your picture shows a Ping G30 hybrid #4 club with a loft of 22 degrees.  Your description shows a Ping G30 hybrid #5 club with 26 degrees of loft.  So your picture does not match the description which can be very confusing.  So the issue is on you and your listing whether you want to admit or not.

 

Now if I had seen that I would have either asked you which club I was getting, or skipped over the listing entirely since it wasn't clear.  But if you just read the title and look at the picture, you think you are getting a new Ping G30 Hybrid 4 with 22 degrees of loft.  I get the buyer not being happy getting a 5/26 instead.

@rhc1221 Don't show items you aren't actually selling in the future... How would it be someone else's fault that you used a stock photo of a different item than the one you planned on shipping? You did that so it's your fault.

 

Sellers haven't been able to leave buyers negative feedback for 16 years... you should be used to that since you've been here for 25 years... but here you are still complaining about a policy put in place over a decade and a half ago.

I would have stopped listening to customer service as soon as they agreed with me that I described the item perfectly. How could they possibly know that? They didn't see what you shipped out.

Why is it the buyer mistake? Perhaps the image didn't accurately represent the item you were selling.

Can you show me you have permission to use stock pictures?

 

Typically stock pictures are only permitted by authorized sellers of the item.

 

Pulling stock images without permission is copyright violation.

 

And look what it caused you. You posted incorrect images that don't reflect what you are selling.

 

Don't use stock photos and only show what you are actually selling.

 

Feedback was deserved and your response was very poor.
