Hello everyone, In preparation for an upcoming article in the Community Chatter I wanted to ask all of you to share your best tips for packaging your items. What sorts of materials do you use? Do you recycle certain items or buy new materials for each shipment? How do you make sure that breakables get to their destination safely?. Any tips you are willing to share with others are appreciated. Maeve

Hi, I recently moved to Germany and have an APO address. I did a lot of buying prior to this but haven't bought anything yet except from several merchants and have received all my products in less than a week. I have emailed two sellers asking if they ship to APO and one asked me if that was the same as PO. When I explained what it was, I never heard back. The other seller never answered me either. Do sellers not know what APO is? Do I have to ask everytime now that I bid on an...

I sent a item for a winnig bid (medium flat rate box) to the address provided to me, it was returned "no receptacle" from post office. Before I contact buyer is there any advise on who should pay the new postage? The item sold for $15.50 and was charged $10.95 shipping, if I pay to ship agian, well you can see my problem. Thanks to any response.

I am going to try to sell some tiny things that are quite durable and strong so they don't need padding or protection. Can I ship them in a standard 46 cent envelope? For example, think of it as shipping a dime... I feel its absurd to pay around $2 to ship it in a huge padded envelope, its not like it will get smashed.

I bought an item from a seller who listed the shipping method as USPS priority mail, but instead the item was shipped using regular media mail. Is it possible for me to ask the seller for a refund for the difference of the different shipping methods?

I charge .50 for shipping & handling which I believe is reasonable considering I have to purchase some packing materials and for my time. If you look at my listings, you will see I'm not exorbitant with my prices. I just had a customer complain that the shipping for a 4 ounce package was $1.39 on the listing, but her invoice came up with $1.79. I'm confused because that does not include .50, but .40 increase and it weighs out at $1.39. I have explained the handling fee, she objected so...

HI, I usually just come to visit once in a while when things get a little slow over on the feedie board. I really appreciate the packing and shipping board. I learned a lot here when I was first starting out. The reason I am posting this is because I have seen in more than one thread the complaint that eBay sellers can't print small, medium, and flat rate boxes on PayPal. Well, you can't on paypal, but you can right here on ebay, Print Shipping Label. On the second page you will see...

I am selling nerf guns. I was wondering, after the gun is sold and the transaction is complete (I get paid), do I just package the product and ship, or is there more to it? Thanks guys.

When I shipped the first two items I sold through eBay, I ended up spending more for shipping than I had calculated using eBay's shipping calculator when I posted the item. One item I sold and shipped via UPS ending up costing me twice as much as I had calculated severely cutting into my profit. When I went to the UPS store to ship the item and asked them why the cost had doubled they said it had to do with the destination (I was shipping the item to Florida from California.) If the...

I have been noticing that, on more than a couple times recently. I will do business sellers who post "Seller ships within 1 day after receiving cleared payment". I would buy the item, the payment would clear (I like to use Paypal- all the information is posted in your summary), then it will be three or more days before the item is shipped. I agree some sellers need more time than others to prepare thier product for shipment, but I don't like the fact they are not shipping as fast as they...

Hi, I just encountered a problem with shipping insurance. I had a customer buy an item and at end of auction she wanted to add shipping insurance. I looked up the total cost that she would need to purchase for the insurance. When she went to pay thru paypal there was no place to add the insurance. Now I could add it on my end, but it is coming out of my pocket. How does this work? I went ahead and paid for the insurance so there would be no delay on her purchase. I just need to know if...

Stamps.com is not letting me buy postage credit today. (It says my credit card isn't authorizing the payment, but the card company says they never received the request - Stamps.com cust service is closed on the weekend.) So...I'm looking for some other solution for printing out $.64 USPS First-Class non-machinable letter (not parcel) stamps. (Conveniently, my local post office doesn't carry the $.64 Dolphin stamps - and I had to pay $1 shipping to get two sheets of 20 from the USPS...

I received an email today from a buyer saying when she received her item she was required by the mail man to pay an extra $6 because it wasn't sealed properly. I used a flat rate priority envelope and the item was a pair of jeans. I understand that the rules of flat rate are that there is no weight limit and as long as you do not modify the package and seal it with the adhesive on the package it is fine. I did not add tape over the flap per policy so how can it be sealed wrong? I always ship...

Hello, I recently or..well...awhile ago. Shipped a package through the automatic postal machine. I sent the item on the 27th of Jan, 2010. I paid for the stamp and 3-5 day delivery. It is now the 4th, it has been about 7-8 days since. I contacted office that I shipped from yesterday morning, they told me that it might of missed scanning. He told me not to worry, etc. I've done some research, seems usps loses packages quite often. I just would like to what to do in case that happens. I've...
